Starting in about 2012 I had one foot in the nonprofit world and another in the civic tech world. Working with nonprofits, I'd often wish data & tech were more accessible and easy to use. Working in civic tech, I'd often wish we stopped trying to reinvent the wheel and learn from the work of communities & nonprofits. For a year now (how time flies!) I've been working at 9b with both feet, LOL, helping nonprofits understand how data research can help achieve their goals & working to democratize this world of data science—taking these tools and methods that have been in the hands of institutions and putting them in the hands of community. What can we build together when we can all have a conversation around the same data?

I read about corporate burnout cases every year & always wonder why? In corporates we always have a Boss & a team and if you are not aligned then the emotional response over a period of time is burnout. Same with social structures as families, clubs, housings societies there is someone calling the shots & you will notice these burnout cases. So the wise thing to do is to identify the business & social structures that give you these burnouts & then love them from a distance. If you want my tips on long distance love, I can share it, but finally you need to find your baseline for this. I try to remember that time passes faster than we think & sooner are old and burnouts are not a great period in this journey to think back on. Rest is upto you

Burnout in the medical profession is real (I have had my fair share) and can affect even the most passionate healthcare workers. Long hours, high-stress environments, and the emotional weight of patient care often take a toll on mental and physical well-being. It’s crucial for us to recognise the signs early, prioritise self-care, and create supportive environments where healthcare professionals feel empowered to ask for help. I am slowly learning to recognise the signs, prioritise my self-care and also create a supportive environment for my junior colleagues. Let’s foster a culture where well-being is as important as the care we provide.

Kudos. Brava. Kudos. There aren’t enough words…well let us allow some of the evidence to speak for itself… “And then, in terms of the faculty, it's even more so. It seems like every faculty person is the same exact background, older, white individual, most likely grew up in [State], probably went to school at [College]—as well—then practiced, and they're now kind of in their retirement. So, it seems like it's almost the same individual throughout the day. I mean, there are a few faculty here-and-there that are either younger or come from different backgrounds. And, often times, those are the ones that everyone likes to go to because they're more cognizant and aware of the challenges students are facing and are more empathetic to the day-to-day things that we have to do.” Equity, diversity and inclusion are NOT buzz words or solely aspirational goals. Marriages create the best business partnerships 🤌🏼💪🏼✌🏼 Often times traditional business partnerships between friends can become “unfair” quickly because either side at any point will feel they: -put in more time -put in more money -put in more effort -have more knowledge And you think that if profits are being split 50/50 then time, money, and effort put in should be also. HOWEVER, a married couple already has experience under their belt with playing to their strengths and knowing things won’t always be 50/50. It’s just how it is. Some weeks one party has to put in 80 while the other 20 and other weeks it’ll have to be 40/60. A business partnership between a married couple doesn’t have that set back of what’s fair or not- especially bc all the profits go to one place- they know what part they need to play to contribute to the greater whole. Yes, I am blessed to have a supportive husband who’s been there with me since day 1 of Remote Hive. Oh and fun fact my mother in law is even more supportive 😂 she’s been my biggest fan since day 1 and has no doubt I’ll be successful. The. Pressure. Is. Real.
