Juneteenth—the annual celebration of June 19, 1863, when enslaved Black Americans learned they were legally free—was declared a federal holiday in 2021, marking the end of a terrible time in our nation's history. Today is a time to critically examine policies that uphold discrepancies in health equity - and then change them. Advocates for Community Health envisions a health care system where all Americans have a fair and just opportunity to be healthy without impediment. #Juneteenth #healthequity #communityhealth #healthcenters #ValueCHCs #healthcare #healthaccess #healthdisparities #primarycare #CHCs

Sarah, will you address why Wellcare starting Jan 1 2025 is abandoning thousands of agents and brokers that have serviced and assisted Wellcare members all these years? Cutting off independent agents and agencies nationwide in 2025 will result in massive disruption to those Wellcare members currently enrolled in Part D plans. It is not fair to Seniors who rely on their local broker to guide them and assist them. It is not fair to the brokers who work hard to help them and will now be forced to turn away those same Seniors and inform them they are "on their own" for service and support. Pulling the rug out from your agent and broker community has sent shockwaves through the industry. You really should talk with Wellcare's CEO Michael Carson and direct him to retract the recent decision to eliminate all compensation for agents and brokers on part D plans, including new AND renewal policies. Is it worth alienating the massive broker community to save the company a few bucks (less than $5 per member per month)?
Community health centers (CHC) are the heart of community-based care, offering personal, high-quality care deeply rooted in the neighborhoods they serve. I deeply appreciate the work that the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) and its members do every day to help the communities we both serve. Last week, I had the opportunity to attend NACHC’s 2024 Community Health Institute & EXPO and discuss the work that its members do every day and our shared goal of improving community health. Thank you Kyu Rhee, MD, MPP for the great conversation! #CHIexpo24 #ValueCHCs #Healthcare #CommunityHealth

Did you know that community health centers serve 1 in 11 Americans? Since 2012, community health centers have seen a 45% increase in the number of people seeking care — and they’ve opened more and more service sites to expand their footprint to more than 15,000 locations. Take a look at this article and video from AP News about the important work Westside Family Healthcare and the other crucial community health centers across the country. https://bit.ly/3I2ObVc

Improving health outcomes for those we serve goes beyond traditional medical care – it also means investing in our communities themselves, like through #AffordableHousing initiatives, to address social determinants of health at the local level. 👇 #TeamCVS Impressed to read about CVS Health's latest affordable housing initiatives that not only support underserved communities, but also are helping to meaningfully improve the way we deliver care. In fact, our efforts have helped to create or preserve and renovate more than 20,000 affordable rental units over the past five years – providing safe living spaces with essential resources to individuals and families in need.
