Real-time payment methods (RTPs), like UPI in India, Pix in Brazil or Swish in Sweden, have sprouted up around the world—transforming the way hundreds of millions of people pay for things every day. But payments are deeply embedded in the social fabric of a country, and new ones don’t typically take hold overnight. Why have RTPs suddenly seen such uptake? We unpack this shift in the first in a three part series on the rise, evolution and future of real-time payments. Read on for more! https://lnkd.in/ernA5vtZ
Do we see a potential of RTPs across countries start talking to each other, thereby making international transactions swifter, faster and possibly cheaper as well.
What an excellent article Marisa Rama
Hi everyone, I’ve been using Stripe for over a year across multiple e-commerce brands, maintaining near-zero dispute rates, fully compliant KYC docs, and 3D Secure on all transactions. Recently, however, I’ve seen several of my accounts restricted simultaneously with little explanation. This has caused significant disruptions to my business operations. Steps I’ve taken so far: • Provided all requested documentation (invoices, tracking info, supplier details). • Implemented extra fraud-prevention measures. • Tried appealing and reaching out to Stripe, but keep receiving automated responses. How you can help: • If you’ve dealt with Stripe restrictions before and successfully resolved them, I’d love your insights. • Any direct contacts or escalation paths inside Stripe you can recommend? • Suggestions for alternative payment solutions that can handle monthly volumes around $300K–$400K and support the Israeli market. We believe our operations are fully compliant and safe, so this feels like a misunderstanding. Really appreciate any guidance or introductions to the right people who can help escalate our case within Stripe. Thank you in advance for your time and support! Best regards, Sagiv Abotzadka
This is a fascinating exploration, Marisa Rama . Your insights into the global evolution of real-time payments are incredibly relevant, especially as they reshape financial interactions across diverse cultures. Looking forward to reading the entire series. Great work! Stripe
Stripe is scam , My funds are frozen with no explanation. I’ve sent daily emails for weeks and got no clear resolution. If payouts aren’t possible, at least refund the original cardholders. Holding funds indefinitely is unfair. I demand transparency and action now.
Stripe is holding €3100 of my money for no reason. No explanation, no disputes, no chargebacks—just a payment provider refusing to release my own funds. This isn’t just frustrating, it’s unethical and likely a violation of financial regulations. As a business owner, I rely on access to my revenue, and Stripe’s actions are directly harming my operations. I won’t stay silent about this. If they can do this to me, they can do it to anyone. I’ll be making sure this issue is heard—on every post, comment, and partnership they’re involved in. Businesses deserve better than a payment processor that withholds their money without cause. If you’re using Stripe, be warned. This could happen to you too.
And there are more coming along “Instapay” -> Egypt Aani -> United Arab Emirates Sarie -> Saudi Arabia Lots of adoption for these payment methods Marisa Rama
Real-time payments are truly transformative, and the future of technolgy. Also, love the illustrastive design wuth the isometric view/angle.—well done Stripe! 👏

3moGreat article! We have been implementing RTPs since 10 years and have about 100+ connected and ready for local payouts. The first wave of RTPs started long time ago but what we see now is an acceleration of new systems being built (mainly to decrease dependency of the US based systems like Swift, Visa or MC - you have seen what happened in Russia)… There will be many more to come and they will be all regionally interconnected. This is one of the most interesting spaces to watch and invest right now (if you are a payments nerd 🤓)
