Stripe reposted this
Real-time payments (RTPs) have seen explosive growth over the last decade, but they’re not the only new thing in payments. The last few years have also seen the development of buy now, pay later options like Klarna or Affirm, cryptocurrencies, like USDC or Bitcoin, and wallets like Apple Pay or Google Pay. Consumers now have half a dozen options for how to pay for any given purchase. Given this increasing competition, how can RTPs continue to stand out? Unfortunately I have encountered the worst customer service I have ever experienced. In the verification process I have been requested to share the same documents daily for 2 weeks. I have shared my documents twice daily on the platform and via email. Every day I get the same email asking for the same document you already have. Agents on the phone I spoke to previously are unable to explain this is happening. No one from Stripe seems to care about their customers or the consequences of this incompetence of this process.
My business funds have been frozen for weeks, with Stripe claiming "unauthorized payments" but providing no evidence. Despite sending 20+ emails and receiving generic responses, the only reply I got said the funds will be held indefinitely—without any chance to appeal. This has left both my business and customers stuck. At the very least, the money should be refunded to the original cardholders. I’m urgently asking for your help to resolve this fairly and transparently.
Thank you for the insights. Some great points in this article!
So many payment options out there these days! From Klarna to Bitcoin to Apple Pay, it's a real buffet. Curious to see how RTPs keep up and stand out!
Hi everyone, I’ve been using Stripe for over a year across multiple e-commerce brands, maintaining near-zero dispute rates, fully compliant KYC docs, and 3D Secure on all transactions. Recently, however, I’ve seen several of my accounts restricted simultaneously with little explanation. This has caused significant disruptions to my business operations. Steps I’ve taken so far: • Provided all requested documentation (invoices, tracking info, supplier details). • Implemented extra fraud-prevention measures. • Tried appealing and reaching out to Stripe, but keep receiving automated responses. How you can help: • If you’ve dealt with Stripe restrictions before and successfully resolved them, I’d love your insights. • Any direct contacts or escalation paths inside Stripe you can recommend? • Suggestions for alternative payment solutions that can handle monthly volumes around $300K–$400K and support the Israeli market. We believe our operations are fully compliant and safe, so this feels like a misunderstanding. Really appreciate any guidance or introductions to the right people who can help escalate our case within Stripe. Thank you in advance for your time and support! Best regards, Sagiv Abotzadka
Stripe is holding €3100 of my money for no reason. No explanation, no disputes, no chargebacks—just a payment provider refusing to release my own funds. This isn’t just frustrating, it’s unethical and likely a violation of financial regulations. As a business owner, I rely on access to my revenue, and Stripe’s actions are directly harming my operations. I won’t stay silent about this. If they can do this to me, they can do it to anyone. I’ll be making sure this issue is heard—on every post, comment, and partnership they’re involved in. Businesses deserve better than a payment processor that withholds their money without cause. If you’re using Stripe, be warned. This could happen to you too.

3moThank you for sharing these insights. I found the discussion in the first article about the alignment of interests particularly compelling. A key consideration, however, is the reliability of internet connectivity for merchants. Encouraging adoption in more remote regions requires robust infrastructure, which remains a challenge in certain areas—for instance, parts of Germany still face connectivity issues. How do you see this impacting the scalability of RTPs in such regions?
