Friday - Art Day. Today, work brought me to the V&A, and three things happened there: 1. I successfully met the client's needs for engaging, accessible content that doesn't alienate people who are new to the material. 2. I randomly met an old colleague who worked for me a few years ago, and she shared her career journey with me. I was thrilled to learn that she loves her new role, is working on interesting projects, and finds her environment fulfilling and inspirational. 3. I observed many children who came for a school trip and others brought by their parents to paddle in the V&A garden. I thought that for these kids, art will be a norm, just a way of life. I believe that each of these points is relevant to DEI efforts too. Listening to people is crucial for any change or initiative to take root. After all, people are our ultimate customers, so understanding their needs should be the number one priority. Feeling like you belong and that your contributions matter is important. Do we remember to tell those around us the exact impact they make and how their activities make a difference? Making something a norm requires consistent effort and follow-up until it becomes part of the organizational DNA. Is it a quick process? No. Does it require effort and resources? Absolutely. Corporate Daddy Diary - Chapter 1: The Little Things It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly three months since Chloe was born. And wow, she’s already been through more in these few months than Serena and I have in a lifetime! Watching a tiny human discover the world is nothing short of magical. Like most new parents, Serena and I find ourselves marveling at the smallest milestones. We celebrate each one as if it’s a world-changing event. Take Chloe’s first smile, for example—a simple thing that any adult might take for granted. But to us, it’s like winning the lottery! We’ve sent that picture to every relative we can think of, and then some. This whole experience has made me reflect on how we approach our work lives. We move so quickly, always focused on the big goals, the “right” things. But in the rush, we sometimes overlook the small victories—those little moments of brilliance from our teammates, bosses, and partners that make all the difference. It might not be landing that huge RFP or closing out a massive project, but celebrating the bit of analysis that guided a key decision? That’s a win worth savoring. So, as you’re navigating your daily grind, don’t forget to take a moment to appreciate the little things your teammates do. A quick “thank you” or “nice job” can go a long way. Recently, our team BleedEqual engaged with students at #LadySriramCollege for Women in New Delhi about their first menstruation experiences. The majority reported being unprepared, unaware and scared. 👉 It’s estimated that over 70% of girls in India receive #minimal to #noinformation about menstruation before their first period! This lack of preparation often leads to feelings of #shame, #confusion, and #anxiety—emotions that can persist for decades, affecting their experiences up to #menopause and perpetuating a cycle of #misinformation and #isolation. We can’t afford to let this cycle continue. It’s time to break the silence and ensure that menstruators navigate these natural transitions with confidence, not fear. Reflecting back to February 16th, 2009, I could never have predicted the whirlwind journey that awaited me at QVC. What initially began as a short-term commitment to cover a maternity leave soon evolved into an interesting 15-year trek filled with growth, laughter, and full of unforgettable moments. At QVC, we playfully acknowledge one of our unofficial "guiding principles" (😉) – the only constant is change. Embracing this mantra has been pivotal in navigating the twists and turns of my tenure here. From coding for the QVC Deutschland content team to spearheading digital initiatives For QVC Japan, each transition required adaptability and a steadfast demeanor. But amidst the ebb and flow of change, it's the extraordinary individuals I've had the privilege to collaborate with who have truly made this journey remarkable. To my countless leaders and colleagues, your camaraderie has transformed (almost) each day into an exciting adventure. Transitioning from local to global operations posed its fair share of challenges, particularly given my linguistic shortcomings at the time. Nevertheless, armed with determination and a trusty companion in Google Translate, I embraced the transition with gusto. Undoubtedly, there were moments of uncertainty – instances where I found solace in the age-old tactic of "closing my eyes and hoping for the best." Yet, it's through these trials and errors that I've gleaned invaluable lessons.  I recall the moment with John Lauser, caught me off guard during an introductory session. It led me to spontaneously articulate my "why-I-am-in-IT statement," which amusingly emerged as "bringing light to the dark side," a playful nod to the beloved Star Wars movies. This unexpected turn became a pivotal crossroad, reaffirming my belief in my vision and the importance of staying true to my principles. As I reflect on the past 15 years, I'm grateful for the opportunities, the obstacles, and the delightful memories that have shaped this chapter of my life. And as I gaze towards the future, I do so with humility and excitement, eager to embrace whatever adventures lie ahead.
