The Tech Innovation Circle (TIC) convened today to launch the first of many learning and knowledge sessions, focused on Market Intelligence essentials that are key to innovation sourcing. The goals of the TIC are not only to apply these principles on a current challenge (more to come here) but also to promote these practices in order to build more market understanding and engagement capacity across the public sector innovation ecosystem (the primary mission of TIC). Today we discussed the importance of 1) defining the problem and need, 2) early market/supplier engagement often before we even start the process of deploying innovation and 3) the analytical tools we need to deploy to better understand markets such as business model understanding, financial analysis and Porter's five forces.
