A Balanced Approach to the Lapidus - PATENTED Precision® Guide Gorilla® Lapidus Plating System! Paragon 28 developed and patented its Precision® Guide technology to allow surgeons a streamlined and reproducible method of balancing their plating construct with an interfragmentary screw. The PATENTED Precision® Guide when used in conjunction with the Gorilla® Lapidus Plate provides for accurate placement of a homerun screw across the joint while avoiding plate hardware. This guide positions the interfragmentary screw in a predictable location closing down the tension side of the joint (screw is positioned as far from plate as possible and centered through the joint). Multiple trajectories are provided with each guide to accommodate variations in patient anatomy and the size of the bone. The guide limits the opportunity for the crossing wire to skive and achieves a true center position through the joint no matter the starting point.
