I recently saw a post that was a bit doom-and-gloom on getting into cybersecurity. The poster made some valid points regarding whether getting into the industry was worth it for the new comers. Their point was that many of the other roles in technology already integrate security into those roles and that having a separate role specifically for cyber was futile unless you were already working in the space. One point that hit hard was that cloud engineers know more about cloud security than security folks. Yeah, that is likely true. I've been telling a lot of the new comers in cyber that you have to be essentially the knower of a lot, but the master of little since you just simply can't be an expert in every aspect of technology AND cyber.
