One of my latest favorite podcast discoveries is "Rumble Strip." The series is focused on conversations with everyday people in Vermont. For the past three weeks, the program has focused on asking people, "what class are you?" All the conversations have been insightful. This episode with Garrett Kaiser especially resonates with me. Class, race, gender, equity, opportunity, and economy are so intertwined. Kaiser puts the conversation forward in such practical terms. One thing he said that sticks with me (and I'm paraphrasing) is that we need to start seeing people as people. https://lnkd.in/gAvAdMCd

A recent Chief report, entitled "The New Era of Leadership" provides data that shows a mismatch between the extent to which CEOs care about DEI social and political issues and their willingness to craft public statements. Employees and consumers have clear expectations that don't align with CEOs’ risk tolerance. Phase 2 [17:34]: En Route to Rwanda. In a harrowing new bill, the U.K. has plans to send asylum seekers into a situation that may be at least as bad, if not worse, than the conditions they fled. Dr. Lisa guides the discussion of human rights and how many people seeking refuge from violence in the U.K. could be diverted by plane to Rwanda. Phase 3 [29:02]: The Iceberg. There are countless iterations of a visual called the DEI Iceberg, but Dr. Shaunna discovered a version that only zooms in on one major identity, when life is messier than this. She questions trainers’ and educators’ responsibility to make sure more identities intersect. #podcast
