We all know the importance of personalization in today's age. Time is our most valuable asset. There are so many daily distractions that we do our best to avoid. When trying to catch someone's attention -- we have to make it very personal, otherwise, you're out of luck! As I shared in the keynote at #Gforce23 offering a personalized experience is now crucial to reach and keep the attention and care of donors. You will not get their attention otherwise. For my third observation of what's changed in the world of philanthropy since I joined Gravyty, I would like to emphasize just how important personalization has become in this space too. Fundraisers have learned that if you don't know why your donor would want to give you their time or financial support, you're unable to connect with them on a personal level. This makes encouraging continued giving very difficult. Maybe even impossible. Taking a personal approach to engaging donors, requires you to do more than just the mundane: • A personalized email is no longer enough. It now needs to be personally tailored calling out specific individual milestones and interests. • Exciting video footage is not enough anymore. People expect personal video messages that are made just for them. • Recognition of milestones and anniversaries is expected to go beyond what's easily known and permeate into the business, family and current spheres • Showing appreciation needs to be genuine and specific! Donors are looking for authentic connection. Fundraisers are finding that they need help to do this at scale. It's a real privilege for us at Gravyty to support Fundraisers in making these authentic connections at scale. **Check out a webinar we ran recently on this subject with the wonderful John Agnello our very own Michael McCurdy

I make employees (and CFOs) smile by creating positive & inclusive workplace cultures that boost bottom lines.
2 months ago I shared a post stating I was out of my depth. I had suggested we go all out with my son's Kindergarten fundraising event and in doing so I volunteered myself as tribute to deliver it. I've been absent from LinkedIn since then because I literally spent every waking moment I wasn't working or mum-ing on making Super Sunday Fun Day happen. And happen it did! Check out the video in the link to see some of the magic. https://lnkd.in/g-sPU9Rn In addition to making all those smiles, we also managed to take the sponsorship we secured and almost quadruple it. It wasn't a huge amount of money, but that's a pretty solid ROI for a few fundraising newbies! Here's what I Iearned in the past 8 weeks: - Delegate or die. Just because you wrote the list doesn't mean you need to do everything on it. - Role model risk. People will challenge themselves if they see you pushing your limits too (in terms of skills, abilities and comfort zone, not in terms of hours or mental health!). - Pitch perfect. You can ask for almost anything as long as you do it kindly, genuinely and offer something in return. - Suspend disbelief. Every time I thought 'there's no way XYZ can happen' I'd give it a crack and lo and behold awesome things almost always happened. - Talk more. With so much to do in a short space of time, doing became the priority but it came at the expense of communicating with stakeholders. Thankfully this didn't sink our ship, but it could have. - Build flexible foundations. We had clear plans for the event, none of which came together on the day! But our ability to trust each other, communicate and get stuff done meant that mattered little and from the outside everything looked well oiled. I learned a stack about myself too... but that's a story for another post 😁

Do cold outreach during fundraising! Secret hack for WHU-Angels at the end of the post 👀 I met 3 of our Angels via cold outreach. One of them I followed up 5 times until he answered. Take a moment and craft a personal e-mail. Nobody is annoyed if you follow up on a relevant message. Of course warm intros work better. But don't wait weeks for an intro. It's not a waste of time. But be smarter than me: Use an automated sequence tool like Hubspot for your follow-ups. I wrote all of them manually. 😬 Pro Tip for reaching WHU-Founders: WHU-Business School lets their alumni keep their emails. MANY angels still read these e-mails. Naming convention is firstname.lastname@whu.edu 😏 Do you do cold outreach in your fundraising? Hope this helps ✌️ Jonas

Software Engineer at Interswitch Group || Frontend Developer || Reactjs || React Native || Nextjs || Typescript || Web Security || Problem Solver || My opinions are mine and not connected to my organizations
One of the most effective way to balance the basics with the advance concepts that you currently interact with is by teaching... When you teach others, you learn new things and refresh your memory on something you have learnt in the past... I still take volunteering duties but only on teaching bootcamp students and people transitioning into tech. It's a mutually beneficial relationship... #teachertraining #softwaredevelopment
