Intro Post: Rethinking School Fundraising with the "Belong - Believe - Begin" Framework 📚✨ #EmpoweringFundraisers Series ✨📚 Hey there, fellow educators, parents, and community champions! Let's talk about school fundraisers. They've been a staple in our education system, but are we truly maximizing their potential? Do they reflect the values we want to instill in our young changemakers? I've spent time reflecting on my recent interaction with a traditional school fundraiser and felt a pressing need for change. It's not just about the money; it's about empowerment, community, and purpose. Most importantly, its about our kids! Enter the "Belong - Believe - Begin" framework. 🌟 Belong: Do our students feel a sense of belonging in the fundraising process, or are they just foot soldiers selling products? 🌟 Believe: Are we fostering a belief in the cause, the school's vision, and the tangible impact of their efforts? 🌟 Begin: How do we activate and channel that sense of belonging and belief into meaningful, transformative action? Over the next few posts, we'll dive deep into reimagining school fundraisers through this lens. We'll explore actionable steps and strategies to make fundraising not just a financial endeavor, but a holistic, empowering experience for our students and the entire community. Stay tuned, and let's embark on this journey together. Share your initial thoughts below, and let's co-create a brighter, more inclusive future for our young people.

Have you ever wondered what makes a community thrive? 🌟 Had the privilege of hearing from Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn with Broward County Schools today at Rotary Club of Weston where he amplified firsthand the power of collaboration and community engagement with our scholarships and assistance to the students and schools in our community. Our collective efforts are not just about education or service; they’re about building a stronger, more connected community. Our Rotary initiatives focus on holistic development, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to excel academically and personally. The support from local organizations like ours has been phenomenal, and it’s this unity that drives our success. The Weston Rotary plays a crucial role in this ecosystem. Through various service projects and community events, we’re able to address local needs and foster a spirit of giving back. Whether it’s organizing fundraisers, supporting local businesses, or mentoring young professionals, the impact of our collective efforts is profound. #Interact plays a crucial role for us connecting to the needs of the schools. This is the Rotary High School version! Community updates are essential to keep everyone informed and engaged. Regular communication ensures transparency and allows us to celebrate our achievements together. It also provides a platform to address challenges and brainstorm solutions collaboratively. I believe that the strength of our community lies in our connections. By working together, sharing ideas, and supporting one another, we can create an environment where everyone thrives. Let’s continue to build these connections and make a positive impact. #CommunityEngagement #Education #ServiceAboveSelf #Rotary #janitorial #CommericialCleaning #givingback #redcoats

Accounting 4 Our Future is an initiative non-profit addressing the evolving landscape of STEM including accounting/finance. As we move into the future, several key trends are shaping the profession: Digitization and Cloud Technology: Adopting cloud-based accounting platforms has become essential for accountants. Running firms on cloud platforms streamlines processes, reduces administrative tasks, and allows real-time interesting connections to train a new generation.
I am delighted to witness an organization making a difference for our youth in Cincinnati. As a business owner and concerned citizen, I contribute personal resources and time to support initiatives aimed at underrepresented youth. This summer, I am collaborating with other organizations to offer innovative and interesting training. #accounting4ourfuture

#TheWrightWay is more than just a hashtag. It’s the foundation of our school as well as the blueprint to how we will transform education within our communities and beyond! At WCS, #TheWrightWay consists of three key elements — The Wright Path, The Wright Culture, and The Wright Village. Here’s a quick breakdown of what each of those elements mean: 🎓 The Wright Path - "Individualized & Flexible Pathways" empower scholars with academic choice and personalized exploration of their interests, facilitated by academic advisors who tailor course selections to each scholar's unique needs. 🏫 The Wright Culture - In a nurturing environment focused on community and restorative justice, our children become P.I.L.O.T.S. - Proactive, Innovative, Literate, Organized, and Tenacious Scholars - steering their own path to success and leadership. It's a transformative journey where education isn't just about learning, but about cultivating future champions of change. 🚸 The Wright Village - Success isn't a solo journey—it thrives within a supportive community! Guided by academic advisors or coaches, scholars and educators will hone their skills and soar to new heights, embarking on a journey towards excellence together. We believe that combining these elements will lead to both academic success for our scholars as well as positive change within our communities, #TheWrightWay. Of course, in order for us to put this work to the test, we need our community’s support! Please visit our website today to sign our petition of support, declare your intent to enroll, or donate to our building efforts. Glass half empty post, but hear me out, because I/we/schools need you... So many needs are going unmet, and it pains me every day. In my role, I need people power and a semi-truckload of funding power every day, but today I/my team needs it STAT to further our reach. Activate Good received THIRTY applications for The eLOVEate Schools Project (nearly double the number we received last year!). It pained me to close the application when today's deadline came. Many moons ago I was a teacher in the lowest performing district of SC, and I KNOW the vastness of the needs of public schools and still aim to be a champion for them. As I review these applications, I am blown away by the sheer volume of needs that is detailed within them. Due to this being the last year of our funding for this project and our small but mighty capacity, we can only select SIX schools for the next cohort. This also really pains me. Currently this program brings volunteer support and community resources to under-resourced schools in Wake County, and countless impacts have been made over our two years of this heart driven work. Other counties have reached out to inquire about expanding this program. We DREAM of broadening our reach and are filled with ideas, but we would LOVE to talk through them with the people who can really care and can HELP us expand our efforts. We need more staff on our team, we need more sponsors for transformative projects, and we need it all right now to help meet the needs in our schools and beyond. If you're passionate about education, we need you to volunteer. If your company, church, university, or group can financially support transformative projects, we need your support. If you're still reading my soapbox rant, know that I appreciate you more than you know. As you ponder how to help our scappy team with its efforts, let these quotes from the applications sink in: "Everything is old and feels trashed." 💔 "We need to have a building that screams a welcoming, positive, and clean environment for both staff, students and families." "We want our students to SEE themselves in our building and feel like this is a place they want to be (attendance is hovering around 51% missing 6 or more days a year). School should be a place of JOY, and we need help getting there!" EVERY school community should have this and SO MUCH MORE.

Are we helping or hurting? That is a question many residents of San Francisco ask ourselves in the midst of a stark and increasing equity gap. As a parent, community member, and incoming board member of the Horizons at San Francisco Friends School, I’m keenly aware of the potential learning loss our public school students in the Mission District experience in the summer months without our support. Our city is undergoing another crisis - looming budget cuts threaten vital programs like Horizons at SFFS that provide equitable learning for Mission youth. We urgently need your support to secure bridge funding and ensure our summer enrichment continues. Our scholars and families are relying on Horizons' high-quality academics and social-emotional growth. Horizons has been successfully leveraging the months when students are out of school to stem summer learning loss for children in San Francisco for ~10 years. The program has also intentionally increased impact by supporting their scholars through their educational journey during the school year and into High School. Last year, Horizons impacted 150+ scholars with targeted small classroom instruction, confidence-building, and joyful community enrichment experiences- thanks to our dedicated summer education workforce. But we can't continue without you. Please join me in supporting Horizons at SFFS today to expand partnerships, engage more crisis-impacted families, and grow our supportive community stronger. In past years, the SF Department of Children, Youth and Families has been a partner to increase access to education for our students. This summer, as we face a potential 40% loss to our summer program due to DCYF funding cuts that have impacted so many vital programs in our city, we’ve decided to celebrate Horizons Giving Day, the whole month of May. Please join me in our movement - your gift saves the summer for San Francisco scholars and helps bridge the educational equity gap in our city. Let’s help together. After 1,000+ hours of conversations with Advancement leaders at private schools, it has become clear that the current processes and software used to fundraise in schools are insufficient for the next growth phase. Existing software and processes are causing considerable gaps in productivity, including too much time wasted on manual data and task management. Unfortunately, only some are noticing the magnitude of its negative impact. While most Advancement leaders I spoke with recognized the need to improve their current way of doing things, many found the existing systems and processes “just good enough” and “not something I need to fix right now.” It might not seem this way initially, but the cost of inaction is high because the Advancement office in independent schools is highly sensitive to improvements in productivity. For example, an Advancement office improves its processes and software to save 20 hours a month. Having 20 more hours a month would allow frontline fundraisers to have more capacity for meaningful relationship-building contacts with current and prospective donors and back office staff more time to support those relationship-building activities. So why is it so hard to change for Advancement teams at independent schools? - We’ve been hard-wired eons ago to resist change because it feels scary, risky and weird - Even if we understand that a change is good, it still requires a mind shift to perceive it as something positive At ChalkBooks, we realized how to achieve significant changes in productivity in school fundraising. 💡💡💡 If you are an Advancement professional at an independent school, reach out if you want to learn how to get there yourself. www.chalkbooks.com

Today is Giving Tuesday, a day for radical generosity! Every $20 donation helps to provide life-changing information to one more young adult. Megan’s Foundation is a very young tax-exempt 501c(3) non-profit & catalyst for real change & are laser focused on this one thing. Those closest to this issue (Title IX, Counselors, Student Wellness staff) know how desperately this is needed. Having distributed more than $107,000 to colleges and non-profits for programs to prevent relationship violence BEFORE it starts. A few results: at one school, 93% of participants said they now can recognize an unhealthy relationship & would stop it before it escalates. At another school, 87% of young men said they would intervene in a disrespectful situation to prevent it from escalating. Our website has more results: Megansfoundation.org. YOUR gift can empower young adults to hold each other accountable & stop it before it starts!
