Environmental Education by Clear Sky! One of the most significant projects we are developing is a building set that encourages critical thinking and problem-solving in children. We've named the project Clear Sky. We've worked closely with educators and students to develop a product that is fun and engaging, but also educational. With the Clear Sky project, we are not only envisioning sustainable cities; we are also educating the minds of the future. Each little house, with its breadboard and solar panel, is an opportunity to teach young people about the importance of renewable energy and environmental sustainability. It's a way to inspire the next generations to become leaders of change and advocates for our planet. In our video, we will take you on a journey through a visionary green city, where little houses, solar panels, and wind turbines blend harmoniously to create a sustainable and breathtaking urban landscape. 🍃 The LIFE Programme stands as a prominent #EUfunds supporting pivotal research initiatives, addressing pressing issues of our era, particularly in the realms of environmental and #climateaction. For those engaged as beneficiaries or contemplating the submission of a #proposal, here are key considerations for the year 2024: 🔸 This February 2024 marks the release of the most recent wave of LIFE-funded projects, encompassing both Strategic Integrated Projects (SIPs) and Strategic Nature Projects (SNAPs). 🔸 Anticipate the publication of the LIFE 2024 calls for proposals on April 18, 2024. Virtual information sessions, guiding potential applicants, are scheduled from April 23 to 26. 🔸 Keep an eye out for the #LIFEAwards 2024, set to coincide with the #EUGreenWeek, with the exact date soon to be disclosed. 🔸 In June, LIFE will host the European Sustainable Energy Week under the theme 'Net-zero competitiveness driving EU energy transition.' Our third Ontario College and University Sustainability Professionals conference session focused on energy and climate. Attendees toured the campus with Jonathan Rausseo to see the steps we are taking to reduce energy use as we strive to achieve net zero emissions. Afterwards, we launched into an energy-themed panel with representatives from Ecosystem, Universities Canada, and the City of Ottawa. Together, we discussed the challenges and opportunities for reducing our campus carbon footprints. Key topics included: 🏢 Building retrofits: retrofitting small to large facilities, emphasizing energy efficiency, decarbonization, and community/stakeholder engagement. 🤝 Community energy planning and collaboration: how municipal energy management and urban planning can intersect with institutions for mutually beneficial outcomes. 🌟 Net zero efforts: existing actions institutions are taking to work toward achieving net-zero emissions. 📢 Projects Open for Public Comment Period! 🌍 Every project seeking to register in a Verra standards program undergoes a 30-day public comment period. The public comment periods for the projects listed here opened during the week of September 23. This week's listing includes projects seeking registration and/or verification in the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Climate, Community & Biodiversity Standards (CCBS) Programs. The projects are located in various geographic regions, including Brazil, South Korea, and Madagascar, to name a few. These projects are implementing a broad range of activities, including activities related to Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR), methane reduction, and electrical vehicle (EV) charging systems. Impact Highlight: Collectively, these projects could reduce and/or remove 554,304 tCO2e annually from the atmosphere, helping to accelerate our transition to a more sustainable future. 🗓 2024 LIFE PROGRAMME CALLS AVAILABLE TOMORROW It has been announced by CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency that all 2024 calls for the #LIFEProgramme will be published on 18 April on the European Commission's “Funding & tender opportunities” portal. The main objective of the programme is to contribute to the #transition to a sustainable, circular, energy-efficient, renewable energy-based, climate-neutral and climate-resilient economy. The LIFE programme is divided into two strands: one for the #environment and another for #climateaction. • Environment, which includes “Nature and biodiversity” and “Circular economy and quality of life” • Climate action, which includes “Climate change mitigation and adaptation” and “Clean energy transition”.
