Every Christmas, we receive so many generous donations from our supporters, and every year we are eternally grateful for them. Last year, we decided to switch up what we usually do, and ask for a specific age range of items and we created an amazon wish list for the occasion. We held a campaign called ‘Ensure no one is forgotten: Older Children at Christmas.’ Due to this doing well, we have decided to do another Christmas (and New Year) Campaign this year. Christmas for Everyone. This includes making everyone feel included over the holiday period. -         Younger children who still believe in Santa. -         Teenage children, who often get forgotten about in donations. -         Those with different faiths, or those who celebrate Christmas in a non-traditional way. -         Older adults. -         Young dads. -         Male DA victims. Over the next 7 and a half weeks, we’re encouraging people to help in any way they can. We’ll be creating wish lists of items aimed at different groups specifically, but if you would like to send in cash donations, that’s okay too. We understand how expensive Christmas can be, but any donation you can make goes a long way. We ask that any donation be sent to our head office by Wednesday 18th December 2024 so that we can distribute them in time for Christmas. Many are battling illnesses that keep them indoors, navigating the uncertainty of foster care, overcoming disabilities, or living in financial hardship. For these children, a costume isn’t just fabric and thread—it’s a gateway to possibility. For a child who has spent months in a hospital bed, a princess gown can be a reminder that she is still royalty. For a little boy in a shelter, a superhero cape can give him the courage to face another day. For a child using a wheelchair, a custom-built costume can turn their chair into a rocket ship, a race car, or a chariot fit for a champion. Halloween is more than a holiday—it’s a moment where every child, no matter their circumstances, gets to dream without limits. It’s often the first time a child looks in the mirror and says, I could be an astronaut. A doctor. A firefighter. A warrior. And on this one special night, behind their masks, those dreams come to life. Providing costumes won’t save the world, but it will give a child hope, joy, and the belief that they are worthy of magic. It will remind them that they are seen, valued, and celebrated. Spark Christmas Appeal Well I think we can mention it now....and we have had people ask us - so here it is.... Please could you support Burntwood children and families this festive season? This is because items can then be given to children from parents and carers so that it takes the stress away from families who are worried at this time. IT'S A HEART THING Glen Meadows located in Hamilton, Ohio has a monthly BINGO store for their residents; the residents get BINGO bucks for participating and winning games. Torlana is a Restorative Aide at the facility and one of her residents doesn't like BINGO but like to shop at the store. Torlana takes him and then with her own money makes a donation to the store. We have so many good staff that go above and beyond for their residents because they become like family. Doing something extra for someone and not wanting anything in return is a beautiful thing. Foundations Core Value #2 is "Do what is right, even when no one is watching." Torlana is one of so many more of our caring staff across the State that give so much of themselves to their residents and fellow staff. They are our Culture of Care, and they are making a difference every day. You don’t do the right things for credit, you do it because it’s right. Torlana does what she does for her residents because it makes her residents feel happy and at home! By doing what’s right and not looking for recognition makes everyone’s jobs and lives easier and more fulfilled. East Bay Children's Book Project (EBCBP) - Holiday Donation Do you have children's and teen books to pass on?  The mission of East Bay Children's Book Project (EBCBP) is to help build literacy by putting books into the hands of children who have little or no access to them. Working through individuals and organizations who help children in need, the organization has given out more than two million free books since opening their doors in May 2005. What:  new and gently used children’s books, including board books through high school books. Books should be clean with no marks or stains. No textbooks, religious books, encyclopedias, magazines, adult books, or library discards. Why:  Too many children in the Bay Area live in homes without books, and attend schools and programs where books are in short supply. Encouraging reading is not enough when families and schools do not have books. Books are given directly to children in need by teachers, social workers, health care professionals, community outreach groups, housing authority employees, and police officers. Some are used by schools, daycare and community centers, homeless shelters, and hospitals to create libraries at their sites.
