Hydrogen is NOT a greenhouse gas. However, when hydrogen interacts with other species in the atmosphere, it can have indirect warming effects. Hydrogen emission uncertainty is a critical issue, with data showing variability from 0.3% to 33% per kilogram moved. This means from nearly zero to up to a third of hydrogen could be lost to the atmosphere! Understanding and addressing this is vital for a sustainable hydrogen economy. An extensive report has found that there is no singular path for the global energy transition. Instead, this journey to Net Zero will require a multi-layered approach that merges multiple objectives into one, such as reducing emissions, making renewables more reliable and forging industrial bonds. This all requires greater levels of unity both within businesses and between nations.
