⚡️This week, Center for Real Estate Technology & Innovation venture board members Vince C. and Ashkán Z. shared their insights into the Dallas proptech market with Philip Russo at the Commercial Observer. “Since then, $2.3 billion has been invested in equity rounds in proptech companies, with $450 million invested in Dallas-Fort Worth-based proptech companies, and $860 million invested in Austin-based proptech companies,” said Zandieh. Included in those investments is $43 million invested in CrowdStreet, an Austin-based commercial real estate investing platform; $20 million in TestFit, a Dallas-based site planning software company; and $15 million in Austin-based Setpoint, a warehouse securitization management platform, he added. In addition, since 2020, 47 percent of Dallas-Fort Worth-based proptech companies have raised a pre-seed round, while 24 percent went to seed stage rounds, said Zandieh. “I do see more and more groups in Dallas regularly involved in conversations in proptech fundraising rounds, and more as advisers in different capacities,” said Cicciarelli. “That’s become a lot more prevalent in the last couple of years. The platform aims to make renting faster and easier for new-age working professionals. Flent Reserve offers customers a fully furnished, designer turnkey home with zero brokerage, minimal deposit, and flexible stays. Flent Reserve has seen solid traction, with General Partner Rohit Krishna stating it is India's first experience-led broker without brokerage fees. What a fascinating experience to be able to be apart of the selection and due diligence process on these exciting founders in this 9th Metaprop Accelerator cohort along with Evan Petitt. Excited for the future of these amazing start ups and watching @aaronblock get dangerous and digging into the true framework and vision with these founders.  A few tidbits for founders I’ve learned working with the top Proptech VC in the nation: *Massive Action - Everyone has an idea, few ppl have execution. *Coachable - Most VC are here for a reason, being open to new ideas and ways of thinking to get you over the hump is crucial. *Niches in the riche - Having a niche in the market, solving a real problem that people are willing to pay for that either disrupts the current market brand or a new spin that wasn’t being take advantage of is key. *Market expert - Being a top 100 person in your sector is a plus. When the world changes you will have the best answers and can adjust before everyone else. *Duality - Companies with a tech/product CTO, and Marketing or Operations founder have better chances at success in regards to dividing tasks, problems solving diversity, and handling stress. Some founders who have it all. Most dont. *Pitch - If you can tell me everything I need to know about your story, your company, and why you are the best at solving this problem with proof in simple terms that a 10 year old can understand within a 30 - 60 - 5 min timeframe the faster and easier it will be to raise. Usually if it’s too complex for investors, it’s too complex for customers. *Know Your Customers - Make things people want. That’s measured by pilots, customers, clients paying you MONEY. And when they say they don’t like something or want something else, give it to them. Customers and traction can bypass most rejection. *Moat - Having something propietary is important. What will keep competitors from eating your lunch or stealing your idea.
