Happy Wednesday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. Falls prevention and protection must be taken seriously at every job site, with every task, every day. Carefully following the safety principles, rules, and regulations around working at heights saves lives. Before beginning any task, take ample time to identify hazards. Make the necessary adjustments to the environment, your behavior, and your PPE to protect yourself and others from fall hazards. Even if you’re working at height frequently, you must never get complacent about the risks associated with doing so. By staying vigilant, you’re contributing to a safer job site for yourself and your team members. Today I talked about a highly critical topic throughout our #safetytoolboxtalk and that was: #gascylindersstorage -What is a #gascylinder; -How it should be handled (#upright NOT #horizontally); -#properplacement due to the high ratio between its height, weight and comparatively small diameter/base; better to be placed in #racks #cages; -Where it should be #stored? In a #wellventilated, #welldrained #openarea taking into consideration any #abovenormal temperatures; -Should #cylinders be segregated, according to #gastypes & #empty vs #full? YES; -Must be #properlylabelled with notion that the area is only #accessible to specific personnel & most importantly, have the correctly assigned qty of #fireextinguishers in an #unobstructedarea Tackling such a topic was more of an excitment to me. It was about spreading #awareness and discovering the answers to Qs I had myself. A #trait #belief I have always had: #safety is not about #rules; it is a #discipline that must be tought during early years to babies, as if they’re being tought a mother language. So, #embrace #safety, #donotfear it 🙏🏻 #safety #toolboxtalk #hse #tbt

Happy Monday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. The National Safety Council recognizes June as National Safety Month, an especially good time to purposefully refocus and reflect on the fact that safety is always everyone’s responsibility. All accidents are preventable – with the correct controls, procedures, and our complete focus, we can keep ourselves and our colleagues safe. Use the STAR method – Stop, Think, Act, Review – to ensure you’re taking the time to focus on safety and effectively take the steps needed to create a safe work area. Getting home safely at the end of the day depends on all of us staying focused, communicating effectively, and acting safely at all times. Happy Wednesday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message brought to you by our parent company MYR Group Equipment inspection is a critical aspect of safety culture. From heavy equipment vehicles to the smallest hand tools and all their related parts and accessories, everything we use needs to be in safe, working condition. Even a minor defect can create hazardous conditions. Whether you’re doing a walk-around of a forklift or looking over a hammer, you need to comprehensively check the equipment and use a questioning attitude throughout the inspection. Don’t underestimate the importance of checking over your tools and equipment before getting started! This proactive step helps protect you and your team members on the job. #MYR #EquipmentInspection #Inspect #SafetyFirst
