Orta uses a ‘Golden Ratio’ principle to blend the perfect mix of pre & post-consumer recycled materials and alternative natural materials. Why is that important? Because it ensures the look and feel of quality that our denim is so well known for while also retaining the ultimate in strength and long term of durability. So that your denim will stand the test of time. Orta’s GOLDEN RATIO mentality provides a standard of ORTA’s commitment to designing a world without waste. For ORTA, circularity is about using recycled cotton and developing recyclable products without giving up the longevity or quality of our products. Taking materials back into the system requires no additional water or CO2 emission at the farm level. This always results in a lower impact than virgin material. That is why we generated a standard for our designs called GOLDEN RATIO. #Orta #OrtaBlu #OrtaAnadolu #Denim #Jeans #Recycle #Cotton #goldenratio

At Wetherby Laroc Group, our commitment to sustainability is paramount. We recognise our responsibility to the environment and are dedicated to making choices that support its well-being. Did you know that our ecorend official bags and buckets are not only waterproof but also contain up to 30% recycled material and are fully recyclable? This sets us apart from plastic-lined paper bags, which often contribute to material wastage and end up in landfills. Additionally, over 90% of our raw materials are locally sourced, and our manufacturing and dispatch processes are centralised at our headquarters and plant in #NorthYorkshire. This not only supports local businesses but also minimises our carbon footprint compared to importing from overseas. We remain committed to continuously improving our operations and resourcefulness to further our sustainability efforts. #Ethiopia's 'korale' recyclers turn waste into #money In #Addis_Abeba’s Merkato market, Dereje Enigdamekonen roams the streets with a bag on his back, calling out, "Korale, korale." The term refers to the thousands of collectors who gather scrap materials like metal, old electronics, and shoes, all of which can be repurposed, repaired, or sold for parts. Dereje, who has been doing this work for a year, explains, "I buy everything that can be reused." For a kilogram of metal, he earns about 40 birr ($0.30), while jerry cans can bring in between three and 25 birr, depending on size. "Waste can be transformed into money," he says. In the #Minalesh Tera section of #Merkato, recyclers sell their finds to middlemen like Tesfaye Getahun, who dismantles electronics to extract valuable parts. "If left unused, these items can cause pollution," Tesfaye says. Disassembling them for parts helps reduce waste. Tamirat Dejene, who collects plastic, earns between #500 and 1,000 birr ($4 to $8.50) daily. "We make a living and help the environment by collecting items that aren’t biodegradable," he explains. "If this waste wasn’t collected, the city’s landfills would be overwhelmed." https://lnkd.in/ew6a6yhZ

Greenful Group's €100 million textile recycling center, which is planned in Sillamäe, is set to be the largest in the Baltics. This is the first full-scale solution to close the loop, transforming textile waste into high-quality, sustainable construction materials. 🏭 Greenful facility will process 70,000 tonnes of textile waste annually, including all 20,000 tonnes generated in #Estonia and imports from neighboring countries. 💶 €39 million investment comes from the Estonian government via the EU Just Transition Fund, showcasing a model for how public-private collaboration can drive sustainability. 🏗️ The recycled materials will be used for furniture, load-bearing walls, exterior facades, and interior panels and to produce SIP panels for modular homes, offering a practical and eco-friendly alternative for construction. 🤝 Preliminary agreements have already been signed to retail our products in Estonia and internationally, demonstrating strong demand from companies valuing sustainable construction. 🌍 This project is a big deal both for Greenful Group and Estonia. But even more importantly, it sets a global example for countries to address environmental challenges while creating opportunities for a circular economy. Read more: https://lnkd.in/dvy6R6nk

The NFW team and I are so grateful to our partners at PANGAIA who have been using MIRUM across many products in the past year or two! CONGRATULATIONS on another launch! Thank you to Fast Company as well! MIRUM is like a tree...durable and survives the elements. Yet, at the end of life MIRUM can simply be ground up into bits and go straight back to nature (to soil)...just like durable wood can be ground up and go straight back to nature. The beautiful thing about this is that virtually every city in the world handles yard waste this way!!! With our brand partners, NFW is building a materials platform that can leverage this existing infrastructure and to engage the natural circular economy that is all around us - and is safe, natural, and efficient! #plantsnotplastic
