The Seam: another promise in the repair industry at scale. Is it the answer to the #underconsumptioncore trend on TikTok? The Seam, a UK startup, was born from the rising awareness of fast fashion's environmental impact and the urgent need for sustainable practices in the fashion industry. Crazily, 85% of textiles end up in landfills each year. And yes, you can change this with companies like TheSeam. This isn’t just a smart business move; it’s a game-changer for the environment and your wardrobe. By making high-quality repair services easy to access, they’re helping people extend the life of their garments, reducing waste and promoting sustainability. They’ve partnered with the likes of NET-A-PORTER & COS. The Seam is setting a new standard in the industry by valuing quality and longevity. So, next time you think about tossing that torn shirt, remember, they got you seamed. P.S. Fascinated by the business of luxury? You’ll love my newsletter. Helping companies with Strategic Design & Innovation • Storyteller • Digital Problem Solver • Human-focused & Impact-driven 🌏🌱
Parent: You can't. 🚫 Child: 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘁? 🤔 Somewhere along the way, we lose our childlike nature to question things, our youthful desire to push boundaries. Instead, we start accepting systems and processes, without a further thought. Take our current "linear economy" of buying goods, watching them break or be superseded, only for those same items to be thrown away in favour of the next new thing that comes along. Buy, throw away, buy again... over and over. 🔁 What if there was a better way to enjoy the items we love, for longer? That's exactly what Agnes Weber, co-founder of MENDED and pioneer in the circular fashion space, had in mind when she built her innovative clothing repair, resale and alteration service. Since then, MENDED has been a smash hit, connecting leading European fashion brands, a growing network of high-quality tailors and countless happy customers who can now enjoy more life out of their favourite pieces of clothing. 🧵 And it all started with by reconnecting with that inner childlike inquisition, of challenging the status quo, and embracing the power of playfulness. Agnes's inspirational story is a testament to what can happen when vision, passion and effort all come together perfectly, and the end result is one of true positive impact. 👌 We also spoke about: 🔸 Her unlikely path to entrepreneurship 🔸 Connecting with people and inspiring change 🔸 Adopting playfulness as a strategy for success 🔸 The importance of circular economies 🔸 Why a “perfect storm” is on the horizon 🔸 Make lasting relationships between people & brands 🔸 Finding and leveraging data goldmines And much more... 🎧 Listen here: https://lnkd.in/gvkkwMWR #changemaker #fashion #circulareconomy #repair #reuse #newways
Today’s guest is a changemaker in the sustainability space and a pioneer who is looking to round off the traditional 'linear model' of the fashion industry. Agnes Weber is the co-founder of MENDED, a startup that is at the forefront of this new era of circularity, providing an innovative, fun and convenient clothing repair, alteration and resale service. It’s what the company calls, “a better way to keep clothes in play”. After forging partnerships with several clothing companies, MENDED is also helping to knit together a closer relationship between brands and customers by offering dedicated services for some of Europe’s favourite denim brands, including Kings Of Indigo and MUD Jeans. 🧵 During our conversation we also talked about Agnes's unlikely path to becoming an entrepreneur, the benefit of accessing childlike inquiry and challenging the status quo, why the business adopted playfulness as a core value, the emotional connections we have to clothing and much more. Agnes is striving to make circularity, a reality, bringing new life to some of your old favourites and ensuring there's plenty of fun to be had along the way. 🎧 Listen to this: https://lnkd.in/gmE5Guvm #newways #sustainability #circular #fashion #techstartup #repair #reuse #circulareconomy #technology

Every action we do, no matter how small, has an impact on the world, and the first thing we affect is the environment. This is why many entrepreneurs have moved their focus to minimizing these effects. Mashael Al Naimi, for example, has set out on a new path to create and produce sustainable clothing. She now exclusively uses natural and environmentally friendly materials and encourages customers to reconsider their next fashion buy.👗🛒 🔗Learn more about her initiative on the #SCIportal and let's discuss what action you take to maximise impact: https://lnkd.in/ebKemkBd #Impact #Fashion #TedTalk

“There’s a disconnect” between some companies’ stated sustainability ambitions and what they actually do, said Tricia Carey, Renewcell’s chief commercial officer. “Fashion brands have the intention,” Carey said, “but many are lacking the road map to make it happen.” We all need to do our part. Do not just talk about it, we need to go into action. Renewcell, was on a the right path toward a more sustainable future, but "misjudged how quickly the fashion industry would switch to more sustainable sourcing." FUZE Technologies allows you to drastically cut the amount of chemistry and eliminating chemicals being used in the apparel and hospitality textile industry. According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, "100 billion garments are produced annually". Did you know that on average, your athletic shirt contains over 200mg of antimicrobial chemistry?! Did you also know that on average, a Fuze treated athletic shirt contains only 1mg?!! Do the crazy math!!!! I know fashion brands have the intention, let FUZE Technologies help you on the road map to make it happen!

THE DISCONNECT. WHAT [FASHION] BRANDS SAY VS. WHAT THEY DO. As Jenny Ploeger rightly points out: These are often two different things. Most fashion brands see the need to market sustainable products. Demanded by consumers across the globe. And also by the regulators. Owning an anti-odor textile product? Maybe from a big famous US outdoor brand or yoga brand? Then go ahead and look at the label of their technology used. We are extremely proud to wok with the greenest anti-odor tech invented to date. And it is not just about the product innovation itself. It is also about the quantity of product that is put onto each of our portance textiles. portance X FUZE Technologies #fashiontechnology #brand #d2c #awareness #sustainablefashion
