In preparation for our upcoming Board of Directors meeting, we asked our Veteran Director, Tim Hickey, to update us on Veteran Homelessness. "...the actual numbers for homeless veterans has increased more than the 7% in that article was recently shared. They changed the definition of 'homeless' and made it more restrictive - and the numbers STILL went up." We must do better. Nobody Should Freeze to Death in America. Nobody. Especially not our veterans. #dobetter #vets #veterans #marines #usmc #army #navy #airforce #coastguard #homelessness #military #brotherhood #suicideprevention #charity #codeofvets #donate #instagood #veterans #homeless #supportourveterans #veteransupport #usveterans #veteranshelpingveterans #veteransuicideawareness #veteransusa #philanthropy #nonprofitleadership #veteransadministration #veteransforveterans #subzeromission #sub0mission #nobodyshouldfreezetodeathinamerica

When a photo says 1,000 words. This photo was shared by my sweet friend, Jenny Lynne Stroup & it hasn’t left my mind since seeing her original post. Pictured is the USS DWIGHT D EISENHOWER CVN 69 with its lights off & at rest after returning home recently from a very long, extended deployment… …& then extended again. Directly next to it is the USS Harry S. Truman with its lights on & ready to roll out. Here’s the thing - Deployment’s don’t stop. This is an example of only 2 US Navy aircraft carriers swapping out on mission. At this moment, the U.S. has over 200,000 military personnel deployed. 200,000 service members away from their family, friends, & loved ones. 200,000 service members families “holding down the fort” & just waiting for the day their service member comes home. When one unit comes home, another unit heads out. Rinse & repeat. *Deployments don’t stop.* Support for our service members can’t stop. Resources MUST be constantly fueled & on the ready. Nonprofits & organizations supporting the service members that keep us sleeping peacefully at night are constantly needed. If you ever needed a sign or red flag stating WHY military support organizations are NEEDED…this is it. 🚩 Because deployments don’t stop. **I encourage you to pop over to Cassidy Norman’s posts & read a bit more into what the Ike’s deployment looked like for its crew. Hint - “…the most intense & sustained combat at sea since World War II.” Believe me, you’ll want to read the rest. #operationgratitude #supportourtroops #nonprofit #socialimpact #giveback #volunteer #remembereveryonedeployed Operation Gratitude

Whether you're serving on active duty, a veteran, or supporter of our veteran community, you don't want to miss this! The VBC purpose is three-fold: 1) Assist transitioning service members through networking, discussions of important events, introductions to industries across the region, and ensuring service members are personally introduced to leaders in the aforementioned groups. 2) Translate our military service to community service, ensuring we continue our leadership into non-profit, volunteer, and civil service organizations. 3) Continue our sense of camaraderie, thus safeguarding the bonds established during our military service and establishing a safety net of resources for veterans.

NAVY LOWERS THE BOOM ON OIL SPILLS Souda Bay, Greece. (April 19, 2024): In an oil spill disaster, seconds count for Navy authorities trying to limit the ecological damage. In this photo by Petty Officer 1st Class Delaney S. Jensen, Petty Officer 2nd Class Sean Sweetay and Seaman Apprentice Tencing Wang Po practice deploying an oil boom during a spill prevention and response training exercise. These highly skilled Sailors deploy a variety of “booms” that use different methods to corral and contain a spill. These booms use mooring systems, such as anchors or landlines, which can be maneuvered to close off sensitive habitat or to divert the oil away. We’ve got a problem. The demand for support from bereaved military families far, far outstrips what we at Scotty’s can afford. We can’t keep up. We need to generate £2m this year just to stand still and yet there are over 2,000 children bereaved of a parent who served every year. What you can do to help… ➡️ Can your business sign up to our Business Heroes Club? It’s £250/£500/£1k a month. ➡️ Could you nominate Scotty’s as your company’s charity of the year? ➡️ Can you afford to make a small donation? ➡️ How about fundraising at the Scotty’s March? ➡️ Or what about donating a % of sales from a product line? Together we can provide the support our bereaved military families deserve, but we need your help 🙌
📊 New Data📊 Each year, around 2,100 children experience the death of a parent who served in the British Armed Forces. Scotty’s Little Soldiers currently supports over 680 of these brave children, but we need your help to reach more. Help us expand our support services. Your contribution can make a difference. 👉 Support Our Heroes' Children today: https://lnkd.in/gtk7PTRM #ScottysLittleSoldiers #SupportOurHeroes #MilitaryFamilies #DonateNow #ArmedForcesDay #VeteransSupportingVeterans

Happy Monday! Today, let’s focus on the incredible strength found in patience and calm, especially for our veterans and military personnel. In times of stress and uncertainty, patience and a calm mindset can be your greatest allies. Whether you’re navigating the challenges of civilian life, facing new missions, or supporting your fellow service members, maintaining your composure is key to overcoming obstacles and achieving your goals. 🌅 Remember, the skills you’ve honed in service—discipline, focus, and resilience—are powerful tools that can help you stay grounded. Take each moment as it comes, breathe deeply, and trust in your ability to handle whatever comes your way. This week, let’s embrace the power of patience and the peace that comes from staying calm. You’ve faced tremendous challenges before, and you have the strength to face them again. Keep pushing forward, one step at a time. Wishing you all a week of tranquility and strength. You’ve got this! 💪✨ Want to help keep our programs going? There’s a category of #military brats that are especially deserving of the nation’s recognition, gratitude, and serious study: the roughly 2 million Post-9/11 military children who experienced at least one if not multiple parental deployments—most often to theaters of #war—in the 20yr period after 2001. Already by 2011 (the formal end of the Iraq War), more than 4,300 of these children had had a parent killed in the Iraq & Afghanistan wars. As of 2015, that number had reached some 5,000. It’s difficult to know exactly how many American military kids are survivors or orphans of troops who were killed in the line of duty during the #GWOT, or who they are, let alone the total numbers of children survivors of all those who’ve served in the Post-9/11 era: There does not appear to be any type of database or central repository of information from which to find them. Surveying the past 35 years with the Lucas Group, however, the nonprofit Fallen Patriots has estimated that approximately 25,000 children have lost an active duty parent during that time (whether from accident, illness, hostilities, or suicide). The majority of these fatalities were their fathers. We owe a debt to these military children that goes far beyond media pronouncements and themed events once a year in April.
Three April Cheers for Military Brats

🤜🤛 Arterium has been awarded the "Veteran-Friendly" award from Veteran Hub , a national charitable organization that helps veterans transition from military service to civilian life. 👉 This recognition is awarded to companies that, through their example, are changing the culture of employment for demobilized soldiers in Ukraine. 📢 Friendly attitudes towards veterans, support, and understanding in the workplace are norms that need to be implemented in every Ukrainian business. As part of its veteran policy, Arterium has initiated the "Caring for You" program, aimed at supporting four groups of people: mobilized employees, their relatives, demobilized employees, and employees with relatives in the military. ✔ We are changing ourselves and helping other companies to change by sharing our experience in implementing veteran programs. #Arterium #Veteran #helping #military #Friendly

Before and after their 40 HBOT treatments, our veterans receive a SPECT scan. A SPECT scan shows how well the brain is functioning, by specifically highlighting areas where there may be low oxygen flow to the brain. One veteran shares, “Many of the veterans in the program had received MRI’s of their brain that showed no abnormality. The SPECT scan showed these veterans where their brain was structurally normal, but injury had diminished blood flow and thereby functionality to parts of their brain. This was a great moment of validation for the struggles of many of the Veterans.” To learn more about the services offered to our veterans, click the link in our bio! #the22project #hbot #tbiawareness #veterans #military #veteran #usmilitary #usarmy #army #usmc #marines #usnavy #navy #usaf #hbottreatment #HBOT #nonprofit #philanthropy #charity #thankyouforyourservice #veterans #mentalhealthawareness #hbottreatment #SPECT #SPECTImagery #SPECTScan #donate
