How We Won our first UI/UX Hackathon in 48 hours….... Hey LinkedIn community, My team and I recently participated in a UI/UX hackathon, and guess what? We clinched the victory! 🚀 Imagine this: 50+ teams, 48 hours, and a mission to design an LMS mobile app for both college students and teachers. 📱👩🏫 The challenge was intense, but the thrill of crafting something impactful kept us fueled. Here's the story: 🔍Research: We dug deep into understanding the needs of our users. What keeps students engaged? What tools make teachers' lives easier? The answers guided our design journey. 📐Wireframing: Armed with insights, we translated ideas into visual blueprints. Simple sketches turned into the skeleton of our future app, mapping out the user journey. 🎨Prototyping: The real magic happened here. We transformed wireframes into interactive prototypes, testing and refining until every click felt like a seamless dance. 💪Teamwork: Shoutout to my incredible team “The Three Amigos”! From Hackathon Triumph to Real-World Impact 📚✨ A few days ago, I shared the exhilarating news of our team's victory in a 48-hour UI/UX design hackathon. The adrenaline was pumping, and we conquered the challenge that came our way. But that was just the beginning. Today, I'm excited to take you behind the scenes and share the case study of the winning project. The challenge? To transform higher education in India 🇮🇳, a sector in need of a streamlined, user-friendly digital platform. With my amazing teammates, we dove headfirst into user research, and insightful interview sessions, and gained valuable insights. We crafted an innovative app with a user-focused design approach. I decided to become a C student to learn a new skill. I first heard about UX Design in 2020 I decided to start learning it in 2021. I was in school then. And... I was studying 'rocket science!' 😂 I mean for a course that comprised of Physics and Maths, I could swear that I now know how to generate the minimum amount of energy required for a rocket to escape earth's gravitational force. 🤷♂️ My friends, seeing how I wasn't showing up in class as much suggested I find a balance. Honestly, I tried! But I couldn't find a way to excel in both. One aspect had to suffer. 🤦 I couldn't let it be the new skill. So I made peace with it. This is not a blueprint for anything. Someone was talking about this last week, and it reminded me of a project I was a part of a year ago. It's an all-in-one academic tool for college students. With this, students can: ↳ Manage their profile on school portal ↳ Access past questions and answers ↳ Use AI tools to solve problems ↳ Connect with online school community ↳ Manage their schedule 📅 (like Upload timetable and get reminders.) ↳ Get accommodation on and off campus When I joined the team, I instantly connected with the mission. I collaborated with the team to design a simple version of the web app. We launched and iterated. Hello Everyone, Recently I worked on a Project for a Student Dashboard Design for Edtech platform along with UI section having some new features within it. A student dashboard is a digital interface designed to provide students with a centralized hub for accessing various educational resources and managing their academic journey. It typically includes features as personal information, grade and progress tracking, financial information, course progress and Management, Academic Calendar . Overall, a student dashboard aims to streamline the educational experience by providing easy access to essential information and resources, fostering communication and collaboration, and helping students stay organized and on track towards their academic goals. Finishing up another new UX/UI design for my portfolio; an AI-powered investment education app for first-time investors called Sprout! 🌱📱 The concept behind this design was originally conceived at a UX + Design Hack at Emily Carr University of Art and Design last month by our talented team of up-and-coming UX designers: Parnian sane, Beatrice Moore and Tejaswi Yerneni. Our idea even placed in the final round! 🏆 A big thank you to my awesome teammates for permission to continue building and evolving the design on my own. So, what exactly is 'Sprout' anyways? 🤔 Many young adults today want to start investing for their future, but face major barriers such as a lack of financial knowledge and limited disposable income, which then leads to uncertainty, low confidence and hesitation. Sprout is an AI-powered financial education solution featuring a virtual investment playground where users can see cause-and-effect relationships between strategy, contribution amounts, risks and goals, all based on real-time market data, rates and trends. Along with the Investment Calculator playground feature, Sprout also offers users a pathway to discover their own unique strategy, as well as a risk assessment tool, both of which are based on the users goals and finances. When using Sprout, users get to see the data-driven, real-time impact of their strategy and contributions, allowing them to grow their investment knowledge and feel empowered to start their investment journeys with confidence. This entire project was sooo immensely valuable for me at this early stage in my UX design career! During the 11-hour hackathon, the most rewarding parts were brainstorming with my teammates and getting to see, learn from, and celebrate other ideas from other teams. When working on Sprout on my own, I particularly enjoyed getting lost in the ideation process again, prototyping interactive data visualizations and diving into brand design.
