The #CCUS Houston 2024 Event kicked off today in Houston, Texas. For those unfamiliar with this industry, the following briefly explains what the process entails. CCUS is a process that involves four steps: Capture, Transport, Storage and Monitoring, and Utilization. Here is a simple breakdown: 1️⃣ First, various sources emit carbon emissions, which are captured. 2️⃣ Then, the transporters move the emissions to storage sites. 3️⃣ The company securely stores the emissions underground. 4️⃣ Some industries also utilize the captured carbon for industrial purposes. 2023 was another year of vigorous activity in the permitting Underground Injection Control (UIC) Class VI projects/wells for geologic carbon dioxide sequestration. 68 projects with 191 wells were either in the permitting queue or had been approved by the end of 2023, a roughly 150% increase from the end of 2022. Permitting in Louisiana (which was granted primacy for Class VI injection on December 28th) and California was particularly robust, with these states accounting for approximately half of all projects and wells with permits currently under technical review. Discover innovative formulations that enhance geothermal drilling efficiency, prevent fluid loss, and maintain viscosity and stability up to 800°F - significantly outperforming traditional fluids, which typically degrade at 400°F.
