The next unicorn founders will be marketers, not engineers. Here’s why: 1. Easier Software Development ↳ Or as Jensen Huang (CEO of Nvidia) put it “Anybody can be a programmer with AI” 2. Distribution is the Bottleneck: ↳ With all the new outbound tools there's more noise than ever making distribution a harder and harder problem to solve. 3. Trust is the currency to trade for: ↳ Think founders and brands that have figured out how to build trust with their audience will win the game of business. And that's a combo of brand, messaging, positioning, customer centricity... And we might not be there yet, but it's coming. The next few years will be very interesting as this evolution takes place. Most tech companies are terrible at attracting top talent. They fill their job descriptions with startup-speak, making them impossible to understand. I put together a lil cheat sheet to simplify some of the jargon. Maybe this will help someone evaluating a new role. Post: we’re a stealth-mode startup. Interpretation: we have no customers. Post: we’re doing something revolutionary that will change the way business is done. Interpretation: we haven’t figured out our positioning yet. Post: we’re looking for someone passionate about making a difference. Interpretation: this role will pay below market-rate. Post: you’ll have the opportunity to learn a ton at a fast-paced startup Interpretation: you’ll be drowning two months in. Post: you can execute while driving strategy Interpretation: you’ll have no resources in this role Post: we’re looking for someone with an insatiable drive Interpretation: you will literally be working all the time.
