My thoughts on Boston Mayor Michelle Wu's apology today, how the Stuart murder and investigation impacted Boston, and where we are now. Watch here:

Thanks Sue for the historic recap. It was very painful and horrible time and another incident that has given Boston a black mark and a perpetuation of its reputation as a racist city. Mayor Wu apologized, because she is an “inclusive leader”. She’s what I referred to in my new book “The Includers”as an Includer” and inclusive leaders take responsibility and accountability when mistakes are made and wrongdoing are done. She also did it as a Mayor of color who understands what it’s like to constantly be under attack because people see you as “other.” it is the very reason why we continually have racial issues in this country. America ( it’s Congress or any of it’s president) has yet to apologize to Black people for the enslavement of their ancestors. America still has a long way to go especially with people wanting to whitewash history. Nikki Haley a Republican Presidential candidate could not even admit that the Civil War was about slavery. We need to begin to live up to our motto of “E Pluribus Unum” out of many one people. An apology brings about healing and repairs the psychological damage and trauma done to those who were injured.

Sue, thanks so much for your commentary. I’m so grateful Mayor Wu did this! Apologies and recognition helps communities heal, and hold a mirror up to the industries that you mention therefore allowing society to imporove.
