📣Share your ideas for new Joint Actions! 🐠Do you want to inspire the international research agenda in the marine and maritime domain with your ideas for a new pan-European Joint Action? Just as the previous year, we offer interested stakeholders the opportunity to bring new ideas to the attention of our member countries. JPI Oceans is an intergovernmental organization where member countries join forces and support research & innovation (R&I) activities for healthy and productive seas and oceans. We support a variety of ocean-related research themes by bringing together expert groups (Knowledge Hubs), pooling funds for research projects (Joint Calls), or connecting existing projects, infrastructures, and networks. 🦐Each year we can explore 1-2 new topics for adoption as a Joint Action. Last year, two of the submitted ideas were selected as scoping actions: "European Marina Network" and "Offshore Freshened Groundwater." 🤝We now offer interested stakeholders to bring ✨new✨, cutting edge, emerging ideas to the attention of our member countries. We give priority to the novelty factor. Which ocean related topics do you propose should be explored through trans-national R&I? Do you have ideas how a related Joint Action could be implemented? 🟢 Enhancing the Role of European Alliances in the EU R&I Framework Programme 10 The European Sustainable Energy Innovation Alliance #ESEIA emphasizes that these steps are crucial for maximizing the impact of #EuropeanAlliances in the EU R&I Framework Programme 10. By integrating these recommendations, the EU can ensure a more collaborative, efficient, and innovative research environment, driving forward sustainable energy solutions and broader technological advancements across Europe. 🟢 Key Recommendation 1: Enhance the Role of European Alliances The #ESEIA members propose several measures to bolster the influence and participation of European Alliances in the forthcoming framework: 🟢 EU Policy Level: Systematically involve European Alliances as partners, sounding boards, and coordinators in the design and implementation process. This inclusion ensures that their expertise and insights directly contribute to shaping policies and initiatives. 🟢 Portfolio Level: Foster European ownership by jointly creating exploitation pathways with European Alliances. This collaborative approach ensures that European stakeholders have a significant role in developing and benefiting from research and innovation outcomes. 🟢 Collaborative Exploitation Activities: Promote joint exploitation activities among EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) and relevant European Alliances. This synergy can drive impactful innovations and enhance the utilization of European research findings. 🟢 Active Involvement of EU Institutions: Encourage EU institutions to play an active role within EU alliances. This involvement can strengthen alliances' strategic alignment and operational effectiveness, enhancing their contribution to the EU's research and innovation landscape. REIA - The Global Rare Earth Industry Association Secretary-General Nabeel Mancheri is leading a delegation of REIA members Pforzheim University, Jozef Stefan Institute and TRADIUM GmbH to participate in an international conference on the rare-earth-elements research and innovation capacity of Türkiye in Ankara, 21 - 22 February 2024. The conference is part of the 'Enhancing The Rare Elements Research and Innovation Capacity of Türkiye Project' co-funded by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye. In a groundbreaking stride toward shared prosperity, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and the Technology Agency of Czech Republic (TACR) recently sealed a $21.7 million agreement with eleven Nigerian companies for the Delta-2 Projects. Spearheading this collaborative initiative are NASENI CEO Khalil Halilu, TACR chairwoman Rut Bízková, and Dr. Dahiru Mohammed, Chairman of the Presidential Implementation Committee on Technology Transfer/Information Exchange. The FUNDAÇÃO CETREDE (Ceará) and Discovery Centre (Canada) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on the blue economy and energy transition. This partnership was formed during the Navegar Forum on Ocean Literacy and Science and the Economy of the #Sea, organized by the Winds For Future. The main objective of this collaboration is to strengthen the maritime economy and energy transition agenda in Ceará and to highlight the importance of international cooperation in science and #innovation. The Atlantic economy and the energy transition are extremely important issues today, given the global environmental and #economic challenges. The Atlantic region, with its vast expanse and marine resources, represents significant potential for #sustainable economic development. Investing in this economy can boost not only the creation of local jobs but also contribute to the preservation of marine ecosystems and the mitigation of climate change. Energy transition, meanwhile, is an urgent necessity to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and promote #renewable and clean sources of energy.The international partnership established between the CETREDE Foundation and Discovery Centre International stimulates the exchange of knowledge and #technology, but also strengthens the capacity for innovation and the search for sustainable solutions.
