Today's session was quite interesting and insightful with Mrs Chika Femi Offor (CEO Vaccine Network for Disease Control) Where we had an interactive session on the topic "Community Engagement in Public Health Programs". She discussed and highlighted on some important points which includes: *Meaning of Community Engagement *Levels of community Engagement which includes -Information -Consulting -Collaboration -Empowering *The Challenges faced during Community Engagement *Effective Strategies for Community engagement in public health program by - Assesing the needs of the community - Understanding and respecting their diverse beliefs, values, and practices. - Involving community members in planning, implementation, and evaluation. - Building trust and offering capacity building opportunities By adopting these strategies, public health professionals can effectively engage with communities, promote health equity, and improve overall well-being. NACCHO has just released its 2023 Forces of Change report, providing valuable national-level data about local health departments (LHDs) and their staffing, budgets, and billing for services. The report also summarizes multisectoral partnerships and engagement with community health workers as well as work toward violence prevention, social determinants of health, and data modernization. While Indiana has recently seen an unprecedented increase in state funding to strengthen local public health efforts and health outcomes of Hoosiers, on a national level, LHDs report pre-pandemic position losses and budget cuts.
