Supervision of the installation of the first Closed system in Mining in Cameroon (Kette, East Region). Under the leadership of the Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, we checked this 500 tons per day gold plant to see if the parameters put in place for gold production, environmental and social impacts are in line with the norms of the states policy to improve on Environmental and Social Sustainability. With the coming in of this new technology, and with the installation of different capacities of plants in gold infested areas of the country, gold production rates would be as high as 90% and more and this would mean that, the mining sector would be pivotal in the advancement of the economy of Cameroon as a whole and in all aspects.

The National Development Plan IV (NDPIV) set to commence in FY2025/26 emphasizes the implementation of the Mining Act (2022) to address systemic issues including Informality , Speculation, Institutional gaps , and Inefficient Licensing Procedures within the sector. Uganda boosts diverse mineral resources including deposits of Gold , Copper, high grade Tin among others which remain under exploitated . Excellent implementation of this plan would see the mining sector’s contribution rise from the current 2.2% to a much higher level. Uganda’s mineral wealth is vast , with gold being one of the most valuable resources . Significant deposits are located in Busia, Mubende,Karamoja and Behweju where small scale and artisanal mining dominates though large scale commercial operations are being persued under the new legal framework.

Zambia is the second-largest copper producer in Africa behind the Democratic Republic of Congo. And it looks like things are getting bigger for the country 💪 Zambia is set to negotiate large holdings in new mining projects in the hopes of raising revenue and boost spending 💸 “We are going to be very strong in negotiations, but not too strong to the extent of scaring away potential investors.” The government has set a copper production target of about 3 Million metric tons within a decade despite a gradual decline due to challenges at some operations such as Mopani and Konkola 📉 Will Zambia hit the 3 Million metric tons? #mining #miningnews #miningindustry #miningjobs #copper #zambia #drc https://lnkd.in/eqmBqYYc

MOZAMBIQUE RECOVERS UNDECLARED GOLD AMID EFFORTS TO COMBAT MINERAL SMUGGLING The Mozambican government has recovered approximately 30 kilograms of undeclared gold from mining operators in the central province of Manica over recent years. Silva Manuel, Director of the Manica Provincial Service for Infrastructure, Mineral Resources, and Energy, told AIM that this recovery is a result of ongoing tracking efforts aimed at combating mineral exploitation and smuggling. However, the actual quantity of undeclared gold may exceed 30 kilograms. #TIME TO END SPECULATIVE ACTIVITIES IN GHANA’S MINING SPACE The government of Ghana may have to quickly, ensure that, all laws pertaining to Resettlement and Compensation regarding mining operations in conjunction with EPA laws be strictly adhered to, not only by the various Mining Companies but the people and Catchment communities. Speculation is seriously affecting the Project Economics of some mining company's new project, due to they coughing monies to pay for illegal structures after CUT-OFF DATES. This is an affront to regulation 18 of LI2175. Newmont Ghana Gold Limited Newmont Corporation has suffered badly from this in recent times, and together with the Ghana Chamber of Mines, there must be a permanent stop to this generational business making venture, which has the tendency to affect investor confidence in our Mining Industry. Hon. George Mireku Duker (MP) is working hard with his boss and other agencies to develop a further framework to end this.

West Africa's gold mining industry continues to thrive, with companies like Pasofino Gold (OTC: EFRGF) exploring Liberia's untapped potential. The Dugbe Gold Project, located in Liberia's Birimian geological province, boasts a Measured and Indicated Resource of approximately 3.3 million ounces of gold. 'With less than 20% of the project area thoroughly explored, Pasofino believes significant potential for further discoveries remains,' the company says. The 2022 Definitive Feasibility Study outlined an average annual gold production of 173,000 ounces over a 14-year Life of Mine, with the first five years averaging 200,000 ounces. Compared to Osino Resources Corp.'s (@osinoresources) Twin Hills Project in Namibia and Tietto Minerals' (@tiettominerals) Abijar Project in Ivory Coast, Pasofino's higher grade of 1.37g/t Au sets it apart. Despite comparable evaluations and production capabilities, Pasofino's market cap of $44 million is significantly lower than Osino's $237 million and Tietto's $605 million. As the gold market anticipates prices exceeding $2,300/oz by 2024, West Africa's role in global gold supply remains crucial. Pasofino's early-stage exploration and lower market cap could present an attractive opportunity for investors seeking long-term growth potential in this developing landscape. #goldmining #westafricagold #liberiagoldexploration #pasofino #dugbeproject @pasofino @benzinga_media

mining activities in Ghana require mineral rights. Section 9(2) of the minerals and mining Acts,2006 (Acts 703) says that activities conducted under the mineral rights shall be limited to the activities permitted by the mineral rights. This sentence means that the actions or operations allowed on a property with mineral rights are restricted to those explicitly granted by the terms of the mineral rights agreement. In other words, only activities specified in the agreement are legally permitted in relation to the minerals on that property. #Naturalresourcelaw

Namibia’s mining sector generates N$51.5 billion in 2023 -contributes N$6.8 billion in taxes - spent N$21.022 billion on local procurement - spent N$891 million on exploration -employs 18,000 people The Chamber of Mines Namibia says the mining sector generated N$51.5 billion during the 2023 financial year, contributing N$6.8 billion in taxes including the pay as you earn (PAYE). The Chamber’s President, Zebra Kasete, said the mining sector’s financial performance demonstrated significant growth, as evidenced by the total turnover which represents a 35.9% increase compared to the N$37.976 billion recorded in 2022. "Several factors contributed to this growth, including a weaker exchange rate, higher prices for gold and uranium, and increased production of gold, uranium, and diamonds. Moreover, the sector achieved an impressive improvement in overall profitability,” Kasete said. “In 2023, it recorded a collective profit of N$2.731 billion, a stark contrast to the N$391 million loss reported in 2022. Notably, the collective profit was driven by the exceptional performance of B2Gold Corp.’s Otjikoto mine, attributed to higher gold prices, increased production, and lower operating costs." https://lnkd.in/dpGa_zPx #namibia #jobs #GDP #jobs #miningsector #localprocurement

Mining production in South Africa fell sharply in January, contracting 3.3% y/y, down from December’s meagre growth of 0.2%. Manufacturing production registered growth of 2.6% y/y in January, doubling the 1.3% growth rate recorded in December 2023. SA mining and manufacturing remain below pre-pandemic levels as structural constraints hamper activity, with additional pressure coming from weak global demand, given the generally high interest rate environment, and as demand patterns shift as countries work to reduce carbon emissions.
