Microsoft MVP | Lead Power Platform Engineer| Power Platform Administrator | Intelligent Automation Developer | Low Code & Power Platform Blogger
Day 2 of #5days5blogs and I'm delivering into something a little different but I think is important to all. Our carbon footprint is becoming more of a focus everyday, and I think we should all be considering this as #powerplatform developers. So this blog is all about how we can all lower our energy use when developing in #powerapps and #powerautomate https://lnkd.in/eg9nSHYH

CEO at USoft | Digital Transformation | IT Agility | Low-code & Business Orchestration and Automation Technology (BOAT)
Over 25 years of success with low-code – surprising? The Dutch government and a global energy conglomerate exemplify this, utilizing low-code platforms for critical operations over such long periods. Defying the notion that low-code is limited to non-essential tasks, their use showcases the technology's robustness and viability in demanding environments. This demonstrates low-code's effectiveness in managing core systems across diverse applications.

“One of the main misconceptions about green software is that you have to do something extra, and it will cost extra,” Kinsiveer says. “It doesn’t cost extra—you just have to do things right.” Great quote why you shouldn't ignore green software principes. Read the article below with the amazing overview about green software.

At CODEISE, our dedication to sustainability and technological advancement drives us to take on impactful projects like RenOnBill. RenOnBill, a financing project supported by the European Union's Horizon 2020 program, tasked us to refactor and realize their excel-based prototype app to a multi-user sophisticated web app with additional features requiring the use of A.I. Focused on Germany, Italy, Lithuania, and Spain, RenOnBill recognizes the diverse challenges inherent in replicating energy efficiency initiatives across Europe. By fostering collaboration between energy utilities and financial institutions, RenOnBill facilitates innovative repayment methods through utility bills. This approach, proven successful in Canada and the United States, is expected to lower default rates and yield substantial benefits for the European building energy renovation market and society as a whole. Our solution incorporated our expertise in Artificial Intelligence using Tensorflow, and we developed the backend part of the application using Python and PostgreSQL. The front end was developed in React, making sure the complex UI structure was handled in a stateful manner. Our focus on sustainability drives our involvement in projects like RenOnBill, where we harness technology to address pressing environmental challenges and propel Europe towards a more energy-efficient future. Check out the project information here: renonbill.eu https://lnkd.in/dqsPBAeB #Sustainability #Innovation #RenewableEnergy #RenOnBill #EUHorizon2020 #AI #TensorFlow #UI #EU #EUROPE

Efficient code isn't just about faster performance—it's also about sustainability. Every byte of data we transmit consumes energy, contributing to our overall carbon footprint. By writing optimized and efficient code and using smaller-sized assets, developers can significantly reduce network traffic and the associated energy consumption ⚡. This not only speeds up applications but also helps reducing the carbon emissions caused by data centers and networks. Let's embrace cleaner, greener coding practices to make a positive impact on our environment. Together, we can code for a more sustainable future 🍃. - Efficient code reduces energy consumption. - Smaller-sized assets lower network traffic. - Less network traffic means fewer carbon emissions. - Optimized applications run faster and greener. 🌍💻 #GreenProgramming #GreenComputing #SoftwareDevelopment

Andrew T Woosnam and I won 3rd Place for Best Plugin in Green Software Foundation's annual Carbon Hack! This category is for, 'A plugin that best supports and enhances the Impact Framework ecosystem'. (https://lnkd.in/gGi7QrN2). We found it most arduous to test and re-test different assumptions while using impact framework and came up with our branch plugin to easily test varying assumptions or scenarios (dubbed Project 16,000). After comparing it with our other ideas, the official and unofficial plugins, and the other hackathon proposals. We both knew it would be a really useful idea that could elevate the entire ecosystem while not changing the impact framework's philosophy. https://lnkd.in/g-RtNTZZ Thanks to all the judges, organizers, and participants for making this a wonderful experience. Thanks to all the contributors who made the impact framework such a delight to work with (especially those that made the documentation). Congratulations to all the nominees and especially Code Green and Scott Logic/DWP for 1st and 2nd place respectively in the Best Plugin category. We will keep working on Project 16,000 and start working on the other ideas we had while brainstorming. If you're interested in sustainable software, I recommend checking out GSF's work (https://lnkd.in/gMQFH76k). P.S. If anyone is curious about the project name, it not only alludes to the number of scenarios our plugin can explore, but also that Andrew and I are both ex-VMware (XVM) employees. If you're hiring, hit us up!
