✳️Donating A Book,A Means to Promote Literacy ✳️ A reader is a leader so as the saying goes but is very appalling that the toddlers(and even some adults) of this present age see reading as difficult task. But donating books can change the narrative. These are some of benefits of donating a book: (1) Enhancing academic excellence by providing access to a wider range of resources, fostering a culture of reading and learning, encouraging intellectual curiosity. (2) Promoting collaboration and knowledge-sharing among students and educators. (3)Help in creating a more equitable learning environment. Though, donating books should not only be a prime target but encouraging reading to promote academic excellence. It's day 23 of Sustainable living challenge beamed its searchlight on act of donating books. #ECO30Champions

Did you know that 1 in 4 children leave primary school unable to read well? This month, IICF’s story of impact features Bookmark Reading Charity, which helps children to develop a deep and enduring love of reading as well as the reading skills they need for future success. IICF’s 2024 grant has allowed Bookmark to enter new communities – providing library packs to more than six schools, with each pack including 200 new books and a subscription to Story Corner magazine for one year. This equates to almost 5,000 new books and reading materials to schools and reaching approximately 1,504 children. At the same time, 90% of teachers supported by Bookmark have been inspired to develop either their school's reading for pleasure provision, their reading spaces, or their school’s reading culture. “'I have seen a huge difference in the children’s attitude to reading. Most of our Year 3 pupils on the reading programme have made 4-5 months' progress over the 12 weeks and two formerly disengaged boys have made 11 months and 16 months progress respectively – it’s fantastic!'”. – Teacher at a Bookmark partner school To learn more, visit www.bookmarkreading.org. About IICF The UK has one of the poorest rates of social mobility in the developed world. We’re working to change this by uniting the industry in volunteering, leadership, and grants to social mobility charities. In the UK, we’ve raised nearly £2M to change the lives of more than 7,200 people across the country. Dive into some #ActionPackedPages with #RIF! This summer RIF is excited to share with young readers eight themed collections of engaging books that inspire fun! We all know it is important to keep kids reading because when school is out, research shows children can lose up to 30% of the learning obtained during the school year. Help reduce the summer slide by donating to RIF and putting new books into the hands of children so they can get in on the action of a great book all summer long! https://lnkd.in/dgN4_mPM

Did you know? According to https://lnkd.in/dVbuqe5T in public schools, where the learner-to-teacher ratio averages 29:1, educators often face immense challenges in providing personalized attention to each student. This high ratio can strain resources and limit the effectiveness of teaching methods tailored to individual needs. Conversely, in private schools, where the ratio stands at a more favourable 18:1, students benefit from smaller class sizes that facilitate more interactive learning experiences. You can make a difference by advocating for policies that prioritize smaller class sizes, equitable distribution of resources, and improved teacher training in public schools. Additionally, consider volunteering your time or donating to organizations that work towards providing educational opportunities for underserved communities. #SmartFoundation #EmpoweringYoungMinds #MakingADifference
