Last week, I joined the Databricks live streaming event with a global audience of 60k and 16k in person in San Francisco. The event covered Databricks' new features on GenAI including Model Training for fine-tuning, Shutterstock ImageAI model, Hybrid search with Vector Search, MLflow tracking, and AI Gateway for usage tracking and guardrails. However, one moment, in particular, stood out to me as a testament to the power of resilience and poise in public speaking. During the event, Kasey Uhlenhuth , the third keynote speaker, bravely conducted a live demo using Mosaic AI to analyse customer data for creating a targeted campaign. Early in the demo, while calling a certain function, she encountered an error on screen. Undeterred, she tried again, only to face the same issue. Instead of faltering, she read through the error, debugged it on the spot, and successfully implemented the feature. The whole audience, including myself, was in awe of her composure and technical expertise (min 1:03:00). This moment was more than just a successful demo; it was a masterclass in handling unexpected challenges with grace and confidence. Her ability to maintain her composure and deliver a fantastic live demo under pressure is a reminder of the importance of resilience and the courage to face challenges head-on. Mistakes happen, but it's up to us to handle them gracefully.
