Remote job ads be like: Work from anywhere! As long as 'anywhere' means... The USA 🇺🇸 😑. Ok, I want to address the elephant in the room 🐘. When scrolling the job boards, it can sometimes feel like remote opportunities are only available to people living in the United States. And it's true; there are a lot of positions only open to people Stateside. Unfortunately, job sites can't control which locations companies open their roles to. However, we can try to nudge them in the right direction. Remote was built on the belief we can eliminate barriers to international hiring so great companies can work with great people, no matter where those people are. We’re working towards that future with every product we build: from Employer of Record (EOR) or our remote job board. There is so much outstanding talent out there. How can we differentiate ourselves in a saturated remote job market?  The remote job market receives hundreds of applications for each job posting (approximately 250, according to Glassdoor), making it necessary for job seekers to go above and beyond their basic qualifications in order to gain employers' attention. Moreover, overapplying makes it difficult for qualified candidates to stand out, as employers struggle to notice each applicant. So, oftentimes, being noticed in a crowded job market is like hunting a polar bear in a snowstorm - difficult, but not impossible. Utilizing the right strategies will enable us to stand out and secure the position we desire.   Why not build our remote work professional brand? The world is filled with skilled remote workers, but what sets you apart? Try answering these five questions to find out. 1. What are my core strengths and skills, which are the things that distinguish me from others? 2. What are my core values and passions, shaping my remote work style and the types of roles, industries, or causes that appeal to me? 3. Considering feedback I've received from colleagues, superiors, and others in my professional network, how do others perceive me? 4. How do I approach remote work in terms of work ethic, communication style, problem-solving abilities, time management, and interpersonal interactions? 5. How do my unique experiences or perspectives differentiate me from other remote workers in my field? Personal branding isn't just about getting a remote job; it's about telling a story that resonates with employers, which shows them you're unique and valuable.
