Urban Mining.....who knew that was a thing? But what is it? Urban mining is the process of recovering valuable materials from the ever growing problem of waste electrical goods. And, it turns out the Royal Mint, the UK's coin maker, is leading the way. Not only are they are keeping the waste in the UK and recycling the waste gold 💷 they are also doing it in an environmentally friendly way. It's a win win situation in our opinion. Did you know that urban mining is becoming a vital source of precious metals and resources? Urban mining refers to the process of extracting valuable materials from electronic waste (e-waste), old infrastructure, and discarded consumer goods, right within our cities. This innovative approach reduces the need for primary mining, conserves natural resources, and decreases waste sent to landfills. As we move towards a more circular economy, urban mining will definitely play a crucial role in sustaining our planet's resources for future generations. #UrbanMining #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #ResourceConservation #GreenInnovation #WasteToWealth #SustainableFuture

More knowledge provided @ Almedalen We need #minerals to get electrified to get less #climateemissions. Future solutions thus provide a balance between mining, recycling and other sustainability issues. Interesting to hear Erika Ingvald SGU and Stefan Romedahl from Boliden discuss how that can be achieved. There is a need for research and development, not least of #circularity and working circular business models. The ongoing mineral competition between China, Europe and USA is an increasingly important subject. Standards and information sharing, for example the suggested digital #productpassport for #batteries is one of the important areas says Laura Linnala. Christina Jönsson and @Peter Bryntesson conclude that Sweden have a pole position, not least due to our great collaboration between different actors, deep knowledge, availability of green electricity and not least minerals in our ground. #sustainability #mining #circulareconomy

Embracing Sustainable Mining Practices, An Important Step Forward. As worldwide demand for minerals grows, the mining industry is under growing pressure to prioritise sustainability. It is more than just harvesting resources; it is also about safeguarding the environment and assisting local populations. Sustainable mining practices prioritise reducing environmental effect by innovative technologies, increasing energy efficiency, and implementing responsible waste management. Engaging with local stakeholders is equally vital in ensuring that mining activities benefit the communities affected. By expanding these practices, we may set new sustainability norms and work towards a future in which resource extraction and environmental care are inextricably linked. Let us rally behind these initiatives and work together to effect significant change. #SustainableMining #EnvironmentalStewardship #MiningInnovation #GreenFuture
