Beijing, July 12 : Dr. Sajjad Ahmed, Director General, Geological Survey of Pakistan, revealed that Pakistan and China will going to conduct a research on geochemical anomalies identified in previous surveys in Pakistan today's full potential behind these anomalies both academically and economically. He gave this information during the lately concluded international conference of cooporation between the Shanghai cooperation organisation (SCO) countries in mining investments and geosciences. The conferences held to allocated the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China SCO geosciences cooperation research centre. Celebrating Partnership: Angola's IGEO and South Africa's CGS forge geoscience collaboration at Investing in African Mining Indaba 2024. The Geologic Institute of Angola (IGEO) and the Council for Geoscience (CGS) have officially inked the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) during the Investing in African Mining Indaba 2024. This landmark agreement solidifies a commitment to advancing mutual interests and fostering collaborative geoscientific research within their respective jurisdictions. Key focuses include joint mineral resource assessment, exchange of geoscientific data and information, collaborative research endeavours, and the development of geoscientist training programs. I had the privilege to present on behalf of Department of Geology | TalTech TalTech Raw Materials Station information on how Ireland has developed legislation to support the #mining and #minerals sector and attract investment and opportunities for #exploration and #extraction of materials needed for the transition to a #greener society. Hopefully some of what Ireland has accomplished can be of help to #Estonia. Learn about the geological principles of uranium deposit formation during the SEG 2024 workshop Primary and Secondary Uranium Exploration on Sept 26. An Africa-centric approach will be provided, covering Namibia, Niger, and South Africa in particular, and will include examples from Botswana among others. This course will provide an overview of the global major uranium deposit-types, including primary (alaskite type) and secondary uranium deposits. Deposit geology, host rock genesis and characterization, mineralization models and controls, as well as the main methods of exploration will be discussed. The Exploring for the Future Darling-Curnamona-Delamerian project has released insights into the mineral systems of the Delamerian Margin, the eastern frontier of the Delamerian Orogen. This new study sheds light on the metallogenic features of key mineral prospects, known deposits, and their formation processes. Researchers have analysed drill core, utilising 38 legacy drill holes from 22 mineral deposits/prospects across three states, focusing on mineral assemblages, rock textures, and geological sequences. Geoscience Australia scientists have identified four distinct mineral systems: ⛏️ Porphyry-epithermal ⛏️ Volcanic hosted massive sulfide (VHMS) ⛏️ Orogenic gold ⛏️ Mafic-ultramafic Cu-Ni-PGE These findings enhance our understanding of mineral systems and pave the way for more targeted exploration activities. The report also highlights the presence of critical minerals like cobalt, indium, and molybdenum within these systems, essential for Australia's technological advancement and the shift towards a net-zero future. Europe is an old mining continent. However, despite its old mining history that goes back to the bronze age, it holds a significant potential for #CriticalRawMaterials that is still underexplored. #MineralExploration must adopt modern techniques, such as the #MineralSystem approach for #MineralProspectivityMapping currently developped by the EIS_HorizonEU project. These novel approaches are key to minimize the environmental impact of mineral exploration, maximize its benefit-cost ratio and help secure the supply of #CRM for the European industry in the frame of the Critical Raw Materials Act (#CRMA). #miningmatters

We’re thrilled to announce Dr. Peter Hollings, a distinguished Canadian geologist and academic, as one of the key speakers for SITEI 2024. With over two decades of experience, Dr. Hollings specialises in the relationship between igneous petrogenesis and mineralisation, focusing on deposit types such as porphyry, orogenic gold, and Ni-Cu-PGE. Dr. Hollings holds a Ph.D. from the University of Saskatchewan, where he researched the geochemistry of the Uchi Subprovince. His postdoctoral work took him to Chile, where he contributed to a ground-breaking study on giant copper-porphyry deposits. Now at Lakehead University, he has authored more than 160 peer-reviewed papers and serves as the NOHFC IRC Chair in Mineral Exploration and Director of the Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Mining and Exploration. Apart from the policy matters, this is one of the best, proactive and interventionistic strategies, which will facilitate collation of relevant up-to-date geological, geophysical, geochemical, geochronological and geospatial data of both on-land and undersea environments. The Government of Papua New Guinea may to need to adopt a similar approach so that the foundation (primary) datasets are acquired by and shared via Mineral Resources Authority.
