Incredible video from Jesse Cole from the Savannah Bananas at Fenway Park talking about seizing the opportunity, slowing things down and giving the fans their moment! Although this is about baseball and showmanship, I cannot help but relate to how this simple theory of slowing down, being in the moment and personalizing the moment matters in healthcare. And as we embark on the new Medicare GUIDE model for Alzheimer's and dementia care, the aspect of personalizing care and slowing down will become even more important. At PocketRN, we believe that nurse lead care is the key to driving ongoing, sustainable outcomes because nurses are the changemaker's, the empathetic people who relate, listen and care. Nurses personalize care delivery by focusing on things that matter to the patient. The things that a patient can relate to, and the needed motivation patients and their caregivers need to be involved! So, even though this video is about baseball, it is also about slowing down and being impactful! Cheers to all the nurses, athletes, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals and good humans out there who are making a difference and personalizing experiences, one person at a time.

Five is a magic number! - five fingers, starfish have five arms, and we have lived Rebel Legal for five years. They really do start young in this industry! 🤣 But there's another reason I'm sharing this clip today. Food has this magical ability to bring us together, bridging gaps and creating lasting memories. You can see the grandfather's gentle guidance, passing down the traditions and skills to the next generation. Meanwhile, the youngster, filled with enthusiasm, attempts to replicate what he's no doubt seen many times before. Moments like these remind us of the joy and connection food brings into our lives. My dog Tucker and I used to go to the dog park together.  It’s a giant park for dogs to be off-leash, make new dog friends, sniff a lot, and, in Tucker’s case, jump on everyone he meets.  This is one reason we don’t go anymore.  Throughout the dog park are trails the owners walk.  The only time I ever stray from the trail is when it’s snowy, and I can’t see it.  Tucker runs wherever he pleases, sniffing other dogs (and their buns), the right size stick for his big teeth, and the perfect place to relieve himself.  I’ve often felt him looking at me, wondering why I’m still on the trail.  “Hey, Mom, come see this gnarly-looking tree.  It’s shaped like a giraffe!”  I can’t imagine everything I’ve missed! The human brain is naturally wired to stay on the trail.  The grass begins to flatten, and we can’t help but repeat the same pattern.  It’s not until a big event happens, like a foot of snow, that we consider other options, even when they’ve always been there. It’s scary, hard work to deviate from our comfort zone intentionally, and we don’t know exactly where it will take us.  However, the downside is that we know exactly where it leads—and sometimes, we’re ready for something different.  We’re ready to see the giraffe! If you find yourself stuck in a familiar career path, it can feel unfulfilling or boring. I can't express strongly enough how important Jesse Cole's mantra of Fans First should be incorporated in how we interact with donors and how admissions should interact with prospective students and families in the private educational sector. You may have the best glossy brochures or produced videos, but they all fall short on the personal interactions you have with your donors and families. These interactions are game changers. They are the difference between getting a gift or having a student enroll in your school. The student ambassador who connects with a child during a visit to campus or taking the time to have coffee with a new parent and sharing personally the incredible impact giving has on your school - moves mountains.
