During the month of November we will be highlighting stories of gratitude from our team. “‘Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.’ - William Arthur Ward Working as part of a team here at Summertown Metals, I find the truth behind these words written by the Author. I am grateful to my manager and team to welcome me, support me and to have the faith in my abilities to grant me the opportunity to learn new skills to in turn support their efforts every single day.” - Traci, Customer Engagement Specialist

To foster a workplace culture of inclusion and prioritise staff mental wellbeing, the key is to create opportunities for employees to communicate and connect authentically. An easy way for companies to achieve this is by installing a water dispenser at the workplace. Most employees have their most genuine connections with their colleagues in the office over a cuppa ☕, and such water cooler moments, while may seem trivial, plays a very important role in breaking down hierarchical barriers and fostering genuine connections. Watch the video by leading mental health advocate Gethin Nadin, who highlights how companies can refresh the concept of water cooler moments and establish spaces to nurture meaningful interactions. #WaterCooler #WaterDispensers

consistency is key
The power of consistency over time is both profound and underrated. It's profound because it's the most common factor in the story of every 'successful' person I've ever met, but it's underrated because it's totally invisible. Share this post with someone who you think will find value from it 🙏🏾

“𝑾𝒉𝒐 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖?” A simple question, yet one of the hardest to answer. For years, I tied my identity to my job: "𝐻𝑖, 𝐼’𝑚 𝐺𝑖𝑎𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑜, [𝑟𝑜𝑙𝑒] 𝑎𝑡 [𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑎𝑛𝑦]." It was easy, safe, and immediate - but is that really all I am? Last summer, during Pack's retreat, Marco Bianchi shared a simple yet powerful reflection that’s stuck with me ever since: "𝑊𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑙𝑎𝑏𝑒𝑙𝑠 𝑤𝑒 𝑔𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑣𝑒𝑠—𝑜𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑠𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑠𝑜𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑡𝑦 𝑔𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑠 𝑢𝑠; 𝑤𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑠𝑜 𝑚𝑢𝑐ℎ 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑤𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑙𝑦 𝑒𝑣𝑜𝑙𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔." Since then, I’ve started to proactively search for an answer. There's still a long way to go but at least now, when I introduce myself, I try to leave work out of the conversation. The truth is, answering "𝑊ℎ𝑜 𝑎𝑚 𝐼?" takes introspection, courage, and time. I haven’t figured it all out yet (maybe we never do). But I know this: I want to show up as someone more authentic, more present, more… me. Thank you, Marco, for planting this seed. The next time you meet someone new, try it: who are you, beyond your job title? P.S. How would you answer this question? I’m curious—share your thoughts in the comments.
