#NIST has released four introductory training courses for the 800 series of special publications that make up the basis for the NIST Risk Management Framework. Each 60-minute course does a great job covering SP 800-37, 53, 53A, and 53B. If you need a leg up on the knowledge that forms the basis of CMMC training, you should check out the courses. Tune in to this week's episode to get all the details ⬇

Following some great advice on topics to brush up on, I was recommended to take the NIST RMF courses. (shoutout to Sandra L.) The breadth of topics covered is incredible, offering a deep dive into privacy and risk management from a management perspective. It’s been a lot of learning and, dare I say, quite a bit of additional research on the side. With just two more courses in the series to complete, I’m making progress and buying time until I can fully focus on the Sec+ course. Upwards and onwards!

BREAKING: NIST has released three self-guided online introductory courses on the SP 800-53 security and privacy control catalog, the SP 800-53A control assessment procedures, and the SP 800-53B control baselines. The courses provide a high-level overview of foundational security and privacy risk management concepts based directly on their respective NIST SPs. The new online introductory courses are between 45-60 minutes, available at no cost, and registration is not required. These publications provide the source material for the NIST CUI Series of publications, including SP 800-171, SP 800-171A, SP 800-172, and SP 800-172A. The new courses provide an excellent set of tutorials to better acquaint yourself with the foundations on which the CUI protections are based. The courses, including the Introduction to the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) Course, can be accessed at: https://lnkd.in/ev9CVzuj https://lnkd.in/e7CU-fjQ #NIST80053 #NIST80053A #NIST80053B #RMF #NIST800171 #NIST800171A #NIST800172 #NIST800172A #CMMC #DIB

NIST has launched four self-paced online introductory courses covering the following Special Publications: - SP 800-37 RMF Introductory Course -SP 800-53 Security and Privacy Controls Course - SP 800-53A Assessing Security and Privacy Controls Course - SP 800-53B Control Baselines Course I decided to take one of the courses, and I chose the RMF course to gain the "NIST" perspective on the framework they developed. It was highly informative, enhancing my prior knowledge of NIST 800-37. My opinion on the course: Pros: -The course dives deeper than expected for an introductory level, lasting about 3 hours. - It provides a thorough breakdown of each RMF step and explains how other NIST documents integrate into the framework. - The course clarifies the tasks listed for each step, complementing my existing knowledge of NIST 800-37. Cons: - The language used in the course is somewhat complex for an introductory level. For those new to the Risk Management Framework, the terminology might be challenging. - The course references many NIST documents, which could be confusing for individuals not already familiar with them. - You have to fill your own name in on the certificate of completion Overall: The course is excellent for refreshing and obtaining the "NIST" perspective. However, I recommend that true beginners also explore other resources that break down the RMF in simpler terms. #NIST #Infosec #RMF #ContinousLearning
