"I'm drowning and can't delegate. Our new employees don't know anything." The struggle is real to onboard and train our new(er) colleagues. Have you considered what we're asking as you drop them into your practice? Last year I started building an employee benefits glossary. We're at 900 terms and add new items weekly. 🤯 As we prep to finish the year, I thought I'd remind you veterans that there's a reason onboarding new(er) talent is hard. Our industry's a little extra on everything including this basic question... How "big" is the group? Note: We're not talking premium or revenue to the firm here. We're looking for a count of benefit-eligible employees. Depending on who's asking (or the data source) our new employee may be seeing/hearing: 1️⃣ EEs 2️⃣ Lives 3️⃣ Heads 4️⃣ Insureds 5️⃣ Enrollees 6️⃣ Members 7️⃣ Employees 8️⃣ Participants 9️⃣ Subscribers 🔟 Beneficiaries 1️⃣1️⃣ Belly Buttons 1️⃣2️⃣ Policyholders Am I missing any? Don't blame knowledge gaps on work ethic or remote work. Work as a team to provide resources and structure without overwhelm. It's possible. Pssst. If you don't understand a term and want to ask privately, message me. Last week I explained RFP to someone in a Marketing Dept and the week prior that "PnC" was "P&C"... there are no silly questions and you may ask me something we have to figure out together! #Q4Preseason is my daily 8-week series showcasing best practices of high-performing employee benefits brokerage teams preparing for Q4, the “busier” season. #employeebenefits #benefits #insurancebrokers #womenininsurance
