Maybe 1 out of 100 Recruiters will respond to your InMail. Maybe 1. People recommending that you construct a job search this way obviously have not looked for a job recently. Instead of taking advice from influencers, know it all types and career gurus, talk to fellow job seekers instead. Hiring a social media professional who can actually create a community and audience for you is much more important than hiring someone who can just post. #socialmediamarketing #socialmedia #socialmediamanagement

LinkedIn has evolved from a formal professional #networking site to one of the top social media platforms today where people share both job and life updates, stories and other content to rapidly growing audiences. Accordingly, #influencers, or “top voices,” and others looking to earn the title are taking over the platform, saturating it with content for people to engage with and raking in hundreds or even thousands of comments. In this piece by Hailey Mensik, we speak to Elfried Samba of Butterfly 3ffect, and Khyati Sundaram of Applied.

Some are all of these as well! Social media is more than just posting content.

- Senior level PR Consultant and fractional PR executive - Short-term, one-off, or long-term PR/comms help - Stepping in for ongoing, or on-call counsel - 1.35 million monthly content views
If I were interviewing someone for a PR job right now, here are a few questions I might ask: -Which companies are doing PR right + what recent work has caught your eye? -What opportunities are we missing? -Who are our main competitors and what are they getting right (and wrong)? -How do you handle rejection and pushback? -How are you using AI to lighten your workload (and how are you assessing those outputs for accuracy?) -What media outlets do you read every day? -How do you get your news? -What is your approach to researching influencers and writers? -What influencers and media would you target if you got the job?

LinkedIn trends that need to fade away before 2024 ends: 1) Sharing a job posting without giving any email ID to share CV at: I understand people want to gatekeep their email IDs but then doesn't it get more difficult to manage connection requests and source CVs from your LinkedIn inbox? The whole purpose of easy access to application gets defeated. 2) Disbursing "Corporate Gyaan" over every other trending topic: "10 corporate lessons from MSD" "69 things to learn from Poonam Pandey" I know it is irresistible sometimes to jump onto the bandwagon, but corporate lessons are best drawn from actual life experiences worth making a corporate lesson. 3) Posting an irrelevant photo with, sometimes a bomb, content! I get the algorithm logic, which is sad, but it literally irks me to see such an exceptionally well written post flaunting a personal photo 🤷🙈 I often wonder if I have accidentally landed on Instagram rather than LinkedIn Posting a cactus alongside this post makes sense? THIS! This is the irrelevance. What are the trends that you think should be done away with? #weekemdmusings #linkedintrends #linkedin #corporategyaan #influencers

Great suggestions for questions to consider ahead of time if you're looking for PR work! h/t Sarah Kissko Hersh Note, these are questions to THINK about, not things to memorize entire responses to. If you simply memorize a response and regurgitate it during the interview, it is likely to come off a fake. I also know that this preparation can be particularly challenging for neurodiverse individuals. With my career coaching clients, I encourage them to think through the answer to questions like these and write out details so they're fresh in their mind. But when it comes to actually practicing out loud (which I also recommend), use a "cheat sheet with bullet points highlighting key elements you want to include. This can include: • Facts like names, dates, places (this is the first thing I know I forget when I'm stressed out and asked a question) • Key phrases, especially if they're the jargon used in the industry you're trying to break into but that you're not as familiar with • Critical elements you don't want to forget such as "lesson learned" or "next step" The first time you answer out loud your answer is likely to meander a bit, so practice a second or third time to make it more succinct. #JobSeekers #InterviewPrep #CareerCoaching ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 👋 Hi!
