Seymourpowell – the masterminds behind the driverless, ride-sharing EV and ‘beauty bubble’ – has introduced ORB, a fleet of autonomous electric hydrofoil boats that operate as ride-sharing water vehicles in coastal cities such as Venice, Hong Kong, and Miami. The Omni Robotic Boat (ORB) plans to utilize the canals and waterways around these cities for its concept of urban water transport, offering ride-sharing from harbor to harbor, coast to coast. So far, Seymourpowell has London, Miami, New York, Sydney, Hong Kong, and Venice in mind for the design of their concept autonomous electric hydrofoil boats. #transport #transportation #vehicles #travel #tourism #energy #sustainability #alternativeenergy #climate #climatechange #solar #electricity #tech #science #environmental #engineering

🚗 FUVs and MUVs: The Evolution of Personal Mobility In the ever-evolving landscape of personal transportation, two terms you might come across are FUVs and MUVs. Let me break down what they mean in shaping the future of urban mobility. FUV (Fun Utility Vehicle): An FUV typically refers to a compact, efficient vehicle designed for short urban trips and leisure activities. These vehicles prioritize fun and utility in equal measure, offering a blend of eco-friendly driving and practicality. Arcimoto's FUV, for instance, is a three-wheeled electric vehicle that seats two people in a tandem configuration, making it nimble enough for city streets while reducing the carbon footprint compared to traditional cars. MUV (Multi-Utility Vehicle): On the other hand, MUVs are geared towards broader utility and functionality. These vehicles are designed to handle various tasks transporting goods. They often incorporate features that enhance versatility, such as modular seating arrangements or configurable cargo space. While MUVs serve a different purpose than FUVs, they share the common goal of offering efficient, sustainable transportation solutions. By integrating electric power with a compact footprint, Arcimoto addresses key challenges faced by modern cities, such as traffic congestion and air pollution. The vehicle's smaller size and maneuverability make it ideal for navigating dense urban environments where space is at a premium. Moreover, its electric drivetrain ensures minimal environmental impact, contributing to sustainability efforts without compromising on performance. Eduardo BANZATO and Florian Palatini this is good for medium companies, don´t you agree? Internal and external logistics. #EV #FUV #MUV #ElectricVehicles #UrbanMobility #Sustainability #Innovation #carroeletrico #logistics #logistica

On my list 'to read' - I am also since years thinking about the future solutions for automated vehicles and fastest-possible-change towards more sustainability; Worked out an EV concept focusing on max'g efficiency not only technically but also in traffic systems view, perfect for avoiding traffic, enabling intermodal and more public transports directions. Thought of it as 'the last innovative car of its century at dusk' supposing that a big part of mobility needs will be satisfied by shuttles. Unfortunately, my concept was hijacked by German Car industry forgetting the innovator, but I am still trying... Automated Crowddelivery, grid-like trunk for different sizes of containers AND modular inserts for use-case-specific conversion (Tetris-like). Enabling intermodal traveling, the potential to build in that Container-System into existing trains without biggest changes was presented before a 'Business Angel' recommended by Bavarian institutions... #peargate #ID2

While private cars will continue to play a crucial role in transportation, the demand for innovative mobility solutions in urban areas is evident. Our SEA-M platform, a fully electric modular vehicle architecture, is specifically designed for shared autonomous use, providing a sustainable and efficient alternative. This platform’s long-lasting shared-use vehicles could replace multiple private cars, leading to fewer vehicles on the road. This reduces raw material needs, energy consumption, and emissions during production. More space for people instead of parking! By adopting the SEA-M architecture and our autonomous vehicle, we are taking a significant step towards lower emissions and improved mobility standards. Our goal is to make city life more sustainable, liveable, and loveable. Automated vehicles integrated into (public) mobility systems could play a crucial role in shifting away from individual mobility / individually owned vehicles. If done wisely, this could contribute to much more sustainable mobility in future. The edited book by Guy Fournier, Adrian Boos, Dimitri Konstantas, and danielle ATTIAS helps to better understand this and many other aspects of employing automated vehicles in our mobility systems. Many thanks to Guy Fournier and all the other researchers and practitioners involved in the Avenue Project and ULTIMO project for giving me a small role in this huge transfer, demonstration, and research field!
