Rain? Mud? Sheep? Just another day out of the office for Coastin Media! 🐏 One of the best parts of our work at Coastin Media is the opportunity to get out and about for content shoots with the people we work with. Last Thursday, we were on location at a farm with our incredible friends at The Sheep Show, who we’ve recently started working with. Despite the rain, we didn’t let it dampen our spirits, and we all had such a fun afternoon. I’ve noticed a lot of conversations lately about the importance of meeting in person, and I’m always surprised when this isn’t the norm. For us, it’s the foundation of everything we do—those in-person interactions build relationships that go beyond just business. For us, it’s about creating lasting partnerships. A big takeaway from the shoot was how much there is to learn from stepping into our clients’ world. Spending time on the farm deepened our insight into their unique challenges, which helps us tailor our content even better. It’s a great reminder that understanding the industry you’re working in directly adds value to the creative process. While it may seem like I’ve found my role as the person who’s just carrying the equipment, I love getting hands-on and filming Jodie in action, ensuring we have content to share on our own social media channels. At Coastin Media, we’ll continue prioritising those face-to-face meetings and having as much fun as possible along the way. Because, for us, it’s those authentic connections that matter most. Learn the power of saying ‘no.’ Never explain your ‘no.’ When you do, you are negotiating.

Have you ever tried to get your staff in front of a camera? It's not easy, most people aren't comfortable being on screen. Last week we visited a client and filmed colleagues asking and answering FAQ's for their socials. Here's what we did to make this experience stress-free for them: 🗺️ We planned the style of filming and setting to match the brand, and what the staff are comfortable with, relaxed but formal.  📆 We filmed on a day that is usually the least stressful of the week. 🗒️ The questions they needed to answer were given to them a few weeks in advance. 📱 We brought minimal equipment and people to the shoot. 🕞 The agenda and timings were discussed in advance so everyone knew what to expect. ☕ Everyone got regular breaks and could check their emails or hop on to a quick meeting if needed. 🛋️ We chose an environment that was cosy and calm to film in.  💙 We sent Bekah and she's very paitient and good at putting people at ease. Why do people hate on others for no reason? 🤔 Last night, I posted a job advert for a volunteer women’s football photographer—a role designed to give someone their first opportunity in the industry. One of my core goals in setting up Beyond the Pitch has always been to create chances for others to grow and get a foot in the door. As our project expands, we wanted to bring another photographer on board to help them build a portfolio, get recognition, and even experience pitch-side action at games representing Beyond the Pitch. Then, I saw a tweet from a women’s football podcast account criticising me for using the word "hiring," simply because it was a voluntary role. Anyone familiar with the women's football industry knows how tough it is. The money isn’t there at this point, but the experience, connections, and online portfolios are crucial for growth. Our team is passionate, collaborative, and puts in a ton of hard work. I personally juggle multiple commitments every day to ensure everyone on the team gets opportunities to succeed. It baffles me how an industry we’re all trying to grow still has people who feel the need to tear others down 🤷🏼♀️ Collaboration over criticism, always.

Clue Producer tasks and thoughts 💭 of the day: Main mission today was to find / research venues for filming days, for our clients. Now this might sound like an easy task, but it can get complex, especially when it’s for multiple clients on a filming day. Consideration for each of our clients needs to be well thought-through… Will it suit their branding? Does it suit their personality? Is it the right vibe for what they want on their shoot? Will the client be comfortable in this space? Decorations, too much/not enough? Furniture? Backdrop? Outside? Inside? Easy access? The list goes on, and that’s not even touching on the basics… logistics, budget and equipment. With all this and plenty more, I need to make this happen and that’s my overall role (the make it happen gal). But, I can’t do any of it without COMMUNICATING with my glorious Clue Team. Our team, my comrades, friends, valkyries, the talented humans I have the pleasure of work with. They each have a part to play, so I can get down to business. I listen to them, I ask questions, and I listen AGAIN, to all the information they give me about each client, with their needs and requirements for each shoot. I collate my foraged feast of info and put it to use with what’s out there. I’ve come away bountiful today, grateful that if it wasn’t for the emails, zoom meetings, WhatsApps, and phone calls with the Clue team, I couldn’t have achieved my goals. Team effort. Us PR peeps love a company milestone. It’s a chance to retell your brand story and bridge the gap between where you’ve come from and where you’re going. Here’s my seven steps to leveraging a company anniversary.... Company inceptions or product inventions are both a stepping off point to unlock media and new/existing audiences. Tapping into the warm fuzzy feelings of our past and serving up a great opportunity to surprise and delight the people who matter. I’ve done everything from anniversaries in jams, paints and visitor destinations. At the moment, the creative team at Democracy are working on a brand that’s about to mark 150 years in business. They’re a challenger brand with a super premium position and our brief is to set out their stall for the next 150 years. We’ve developed a brand strategy that takes into consideration how they appear, what they say, how they talk, and where they play. Our launch plan includes comms for customers, distributors, end users and internal audiences and there are plenty of moments designed to creatively ignite interest along the way. There are lots of creative ways to connect people with your past - from asking customers or influencers to reflect on their childhood/first memories of your business to unearthing  eyebrow raising marketing from the past. Give the campaign wider context, look at what was making the news, what people were watching on TV, what was the song that everyone was singing to? But sometimes the most interesting campaigns point more firmly to the future. Through a clever brand partnership that unlocks a new audience to some limited addition added value item developed in partnership with the right influencer. So, if you have a milestone coming up in the next 18 months, ask yourself: 💡 How could this milestone help us to achieve our overall business goals now and catapult us forwards for the future? Who are the people I want to know about this? 💡 Who influences them and how can I best reach them? 💡 What is the core message I want to land with those people?  💡 Look back into your past to discover what was happening in the world when this business began, uncover the wider cultural moments that will drive warm feels of nostalgia for our customers 💡 How can I use this to excite the people who matter most to us? 💡 How will I know if I’ve done a good job? Our all important team (both past and present), clients and people who helped us over the years. With a huge amount of effort, I managed to surprise EVERYONE with a slot from Mr Wilson’s Second Liners with their brass 90s classics. Awesome!
