My friend Andy Fidel ✨has been posting a weekly list of available XR positions for a while. LinkedIn's job search has stopped me/us (VRAR Chicago) from publishing a similar "Chicago" focused list for over a year. Last summer, I created 2 weekly job alerts in my LinkedIn profile - one each for jobs in the Chicagoland area containing the phrase "Virtual Reality" or "Augmented Reality." I could post a few dozen examples of the jobs these filters have returned (one in the comments), but put simply, 90% (or more) do not even contain the words "virtual reality" or "augmented reality" or have anything to do with spatial computing or immersive technology. Does anybody else have trouble with LinkedIn's job search and filters? Any suggestions on a better way to regularly generate a list of available XR positions in the Chicagoland area? I could use Indeed but it makes cross-posting to LinkedIn more difficult. Thanks in advance! #VirtualReality #AugmentedReality #SpatialComputing #ImmersiveTechnology #XR #AR #VR #Jobs #Careers

Chief Executive Officer | Experienced Executive Recruiter “Placing the best and the brightest since ‘99”
Last Friday a client called me looking for a “Sr. motion designer”. Someone with solid experience in social, digital, entertainment campaigns + knowledge of C4D, and rotoscoping for under 150k FT. I kicked out the mini JD/blurb to the team and by yesterday we had 4 “ringers” as we call them, in his inbox for review. A ringer means that they are a “plug n play” for the role - usually out of a direct competitor, checking all the boxes re skill set requirements, and coming in under 150k. We spoke with each candidate about the company and set expectations explaining why it would be worth their time for a mtg and potentially make a move and leave their current role. Did we have to go to linked in and start up a cold search?, no, because they were already in our database, and two of them we’ve placed in the past. So we could trust they would stick and perform well. The client was surprised with our accuracy and turn around time and we all agreed that had he posted the role on line it would have taken him weeks if not months to go through the candidates and make a hire. Day after day I have these conversations with candidates and hiring managers and everyone agrees that posting roles on Linked In is not the best approach to finding talent yet it just goes on. I mean, we are a recruiting agency with over 50 roles we are working on at any given time and we don’t post them on LI. Why?, because we get flooded with 100’s of cv’s and emails of solid candidates but rarely if ever the “right” candidate. Last night I googled “do company’s legally have to post their hiring needs on LI?” And the answer was “As it turns out, most employers do not face legal requirements to post any job listing.” So I scratched my head a bit more, shared it with the team, and went back to watching Ice hockey. Long story short, If you’re looking for a better way to find and hire the right talent and ultimately save money, then work with an experienced recruiting agency.

In recent weeks, I’ve had insightful conversations with numerous candidates eager to gain an advantage in the job market. The top piece of advice I’ve shared is your LinkedIn profile's critical role. It’s a powerful tool that can significantly boost your chances of landing that dream job in the gaming industry. Here’s how to make your profile stand out: 🎮 Craft a Winning Headline: Your headline should be more than just a job title. It’s your chance to showcase your niche in game development, be it AI programming, character design, or sound engineering. 👾 Showcase Your Creations: The ‘Featured’ section is your gallery. Display your most impressive work here, from game demos to art concepts, to capture the attention of potential employers. 🎨 Aesthetic Matters: In a field driven by visuals, your profile should reflect your creativity. Add a personal touch with a custom banner or icons that represent your professional identity. 📊 Highlight Your Skills: Make sure to list the software and tools you excel in, like Maya, C++, or Photoshop. Peer endorsements can add weight to your expertise. 🤝 Build Your Network: Connect with fellow game developers and participate in relevant groups. Regular interaction with industry-related content can increase your profile’s visibility. 🔑 Optimize for Search: Incorporate industry-specific keywords throughout your profile to improve its searchability. Terms like ‘game producer’, ‘VR specialist’, or ‘esports coordinator’ can help you get noticed. Your LinkedIn profile is the starting point in the quest of your career journey. Make it impactful! #videogames #gamesjobs #gamesindustry #hiring

🔹 Motion Graphics & Animation Specialist | 9+ Years of Creative Expertise in 2D Animation, Video Editing 🔹
It's disheartening to see that despite the crucial role these professionals play in driving company growth and success, they are often subjected to unfair compensation practices. As you rightly pointed out, these individuals possess specialized skills that are integral to the development and promotion of products and services in the gaming and tech sectors. Graphic designers are responsible for creating visually appealing interfaces and marketing materials that attract and engage users. CG artists and 3D artists bring virtual worlds and characters to life, enhancing the immersive experience for gamers and consumers. Video editors and animators play a key role in storytelling and conveying complex concepts through engaging multimedia content. Yet, despite the clear importance of these skills, many companies fail to recognize their value and prioritize fair compensation for their creative talent. This not only undermines the morale and motivation of the individuals involved but also hinders the company's ability to attract and retain top talent in a highly competitive market. It's crucial for companies in the gaming and tech industries to understand that investing in their creative workforce is essential for long-term success. By valuing and fairly compensating graphic designers, CG artists, 3D artists, video editors, and animators, companies can foster a culture of innovation, creativity, and collaboration that drives growth and innovation. As advocates for fair compensation and recognition of creative talent, it's important for us to continue raising awareness about this issue and pushing for positive change within our respective companies and industries. Together, we can work towards creating a more equitable and supportive environment where every creative professional is valued and respected for their contributions. #underpay #lowwages #cgartist #3dartist #graphicdesigner #videoeditor #animator #jobhunt #jobalert #hiring #hr

Account Executive at SuperPixel | Multimedia Content & Hardware Solutions | Helping Brands Elevate with Animation, AR/VR, Projection Mapping & More
🌟 Celebrating 2 Years at SuperPixel 🌟 When I first joined SuperPixel two years ago, I had little to no knowledge about animation, coming from five years of experience in video production. But I knew that the soft skills I’d developed as a producer would help me pick up the animation workflow and collaborate well with the talented production team. From day one, I was thrown into exciting projects like Mandai Ranger Buddies, a lively 3D animation and SJ 2.0 immersive dome projection mapping in Bali. Navigating these big projects was no easy feat, but I’m incredibly thankful for the guidance and support from our art directors, artists, and the trust of our clients that made it possible. Earlier this year, I took a leap into a new challenge—venturing into a sales/account role. With little sales experience, this role allowed me to grow beyond my comfort zone. I honed my client management and negotiation skills, built meaningful connections within the industry, and stayed connected with past clients from my producer days, which I thoroughly enjoy. As I prepare to step into a new chapter of life next month, I’m taking time to reflect on everything I’ve learned so far. Though I’ll be on a 3-month leave, I’m excited to return with fresh ideas, ready to serve and consult our clients with renewed passion. Here’s to continuous growth and new opportunities! 🙌 #SuperPixel #Grateful #Animation #Sales #ClientRelationships #PersonalGrowth #NewChapter ——— Hi, I’m Kat! 👋 As an Account Executive at SuperPixel, I help businesses—big or small—discover creative, tailored solutions to meet their unique goals. In my posts, I share about: ✔ What’s happening at SuperPixel ✔ Insights on marketing and communication ✔ Developments in animation, immersive tech, and VR I’m always open to new ideas, connections, and collaborations. If my posts spark your interest or you’d like to chat, feel free to send me a message or drop a comment! Let’s see how we can create something exciting together. 🚀
