Despite being a big believer in using technology to make life easier, I've never really loved using a QR code and my mobile as an alternative to a restaurant menu. I find it too small and struggle to get a real feel for what I want to eat. For the first time tonight I ate at a restaurant that used a QR code at the end of the meal.... to pay the bill. In my mind, this is a fantastic use case! It allows me to leave when I want and it is secure. Why do the staff need to waste time bringing me a payment terminal when I can just use my phone?! Genius. Most surprising of all, it seems to have been enabled by NCR Corporation - not exactly a disruptor in the industry! What do you think? Is this a good use case for technology and QR codes?
