Wimbeldon, Tour de France and the Paris Olympics almost makes you forget about Euro 2024. A few things to remember... ➡ EURO 2024 will create a projected €935 million for the HatTrick programme over the next four years. ➡ This will be reinvested into the 55 national associations. that form part of the European federation ➡ The maximum amount of money a team could win is $30.43 million, according to UEFA, which occurs if a team wins all seven of its matches, which Spain did in 2024. ➡ With such a young squad, we look forward with anticipation to what Spain could achieve at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. ➡ Will Spain repeat their 2010 heroics, by winning the World Cup after their 2008 EURO 2008 success? ➡ Real Madrid C.F. have won the Champions league as well. Are we in a Spanish cycling era of domination that we saw between 2008 and 2012? Spain will be one of three countries hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup, with the Bernabéu announced as the stadium that will host the final. Spanish travelling groups will be all over the football world, as their team's dominance is sure to be felt over the coming years. We look forward to hosting international working groups as we prepare for 2025 and 2026 events. https://lnkd.in/dYw_ijca

Sometimes you have to let someone else’s dream die for yours to live… In 2014, Germany beat Brazil 7-1 in the World Cup semi-finals. Brazil was predicted to win the championship. Due to have strong their team was. For many compounding reasons, Germany pulled off the win against the favored team. Brazil’s dream died so that Germany’s could live. This doesn’t mean that Brazil never won again, but this does mean that sometimes you have to have a break down to have a break through. If you find yourself where Brazil has been the last few years, keep pushing! Your wins will come! If you find yourself where Germany was, celebrate, but also keep pushing! Others will work their butts off to get where you are at! #journey #drive #grit #win #success #breakthrough

Irish Rugby.. Watching the Glasgow Warriors last night and this article it raised some questions and the need for some home truths- “Irish rugby has everything in place to be the most aligned rugby system in the world, yet there are clear signs that it’s been sorely lacking over the past four-year cycle and a lack of depth in key positions was obvious in Paris last October“ There are then questions around the IRFU’s crude commercialisation of the game alienating long standing supporters. Over hyping. Terrible athmosphere. It’s attitude to a range of issues from alcohol, concussion, gender and human rights. Does Irish rugby really challenge under performance on and off the field which should come with its new found commercialisation or is it still an old boys club albeit one the Irish tax payer subsidies? It’s true there’s excessive demand on tired players and poorer rugby but the golden period we have enjoyed in recent years may not last without the type of serious self reflection which preceded the professional era and which the IRFU is to be applauded for. Rugby is about more than money. Glasgow’s victory, a team with far less investment and hype than Leinster, really brought this out.

Yesterday was another great rugby game, opposing the French team to the almighty All Blacks from New Zealand. As a rugby fan, this was quite a night. The fact that France won of course helped. Rugby is a great illustration of what we teach in negotiation at emlyon business school and through the PRONEGO-DBS network. Let me explain. Negotiation needs to be approached on its three dimensions (parallel with rugby): people (two teams on the field), process (the rules of the game) and substance (the result at the end). In negotiation, one can choose cooperative or competitive strategies. Obviously, in rugby, there will be only one winner and no glory for the other team (inducing fierce competition on the substance: the two teams played rough, a few injuries happened and all balls were played at 100%). However, there are rules (process). Yesterday, the referee's commands were respected, there was no foul play, no criticizing of the referee's decisions, no brawl, despite the roughness of the game (full cooperation at the process level). At the end of the game, only respect, with each player shaking hands and each team clapping at the other one, the winners accompanying the losers out of the field (full cooperation on relationships). In negotiation: - There is value in cooperating at relationship level, even with people we do not like. - There is value in cooperating at process level. - This does not mean that we will cooperate at substance level: certain negotiations will, on the parties' interests and values, be adversarial, others much more cooperative. Cooperation and competition will be played differently depending on the negotiation's dimension. What goes in rugby goes in negotiation. Want to learn more? Let's discuss.

Many people ask me who will win the European Championship 2024.When i said 2018 and 2022 that Croatia is one of 3 top favorite teams, even my close friend was joking with me.Same as i said after first game of Marocco, that this team is hungry enough to win a 🏅first time in history of african football. Yesterday i saw Portugal vs Croatia. For me the 2 main candidates. Both teams, with arround 20 equal top players but still with a team menthality. The main reason why i choose this 2 nations, that both teams have also several game changer, who can decide a game even if the team dont perform. As third candidate i want to add Denmark.A team with the best physical stuff of all teams.A team with high running performance and team spirit. Also their corners and free kicks are on highest level. What is your opinion my community?

(S)painful Decision to be made? Following defeat in the European Championships 2024 Final to Spain last night, Gareth Southgate gave a pitch side interview to ITV’s Gabriele Marcotti where he said the following: "I think England are in a really good position in terms of the experiences they've got now. The age of the squad, you know, most of this squad are going to be around not only for the World Cup but the next Euros as well so, um, you know, there's a lot to look forward to but you know, that’s not, you know, at this moment, is not any consolation." Linguistic analysis can be applied to any aspect of life. What someone doesn’t say can often be more important than what someone does say. In this interview, notably absent is the pronoun, ‘we,’ which indicates unity and cooperation. Gareth Southgate had two key opportunities in which he linguistically distanced himself from this, once where he thinks ‘England’ are in a good place and secondly where he references the experiences ‘they’ve’ had. Conversely, the only commitment we see from the England Manager is via the pronoun ‘I’ in respect to that which he, ‘thinks.’ The shortest answer is the best combined with commitment. Linguistically for now it appears that Gareth Southgate’s distancing from the squad has taken him a step closer towards the door. #England #FootballAssociation #EuropeanChampionships2024 #EnglandManager #GarethSouthgate
