In my honest opinion if you were looking to start a new job for June 2025x I think right about now is the best time to start searching. Getting hired is the first step! Getting an offer drafted and sent across as become as hard as finding the job.

One lesson I’ve learned in the last 90 days: clients are not experts in your field. That’s why you were hired. It’s part of your job to simplify concepts they don’t grasp in a way they do.

Literally. The amount of BS on the average job application shows how out-of-touch 90% of hiring managers are. Most #genz have been using social media their whole lives and can outperform most older millennials with more experience. I'd rather hire someone who has attributes like wittiness, understanding of social queues, and high social listening skills none of which require a bachelor's degree or 10 years of work experience. #hiringmanagers #startupecosystem #workforce

You get hired because you have great experience. You thrive in role when you listen to and leverage others’ experience. Having been here before can be helpful, but it’s not a hall pass to ignore context. Leverage your experience to ask smarter questions. Never assume you already have all the answers.

This is something that I’ve seen far too often. I’ve seen this at several companies I’ve worked for. And they were absolutely 100% adamant that if you weren’t 100 a “perfect fit,” then tough! You have no room for succession planning unless you check all the boxes. No matter how much you expressed interest in a role or the potential that could be there. This has to change. Not only does it hurt morale, but it can ultimately affect your employee retention and long-term engagement. No employee wants to work for a company where they don’t feel valued, heard, appreciated, and given the opportunities they ask for. And if they aren’t 100%, then it’s your job as their boss to get them on the path to being ready for the next opportunity. Not just to save face to be able to say “we’re going to get you there” and then do nothing.
