Wise and generous advice from Matthew: "Try to ask yourself these questions: Who do you want to be? What do you want to achieve? And what impact do you want to make in the world? The journey to getting into these top universities requires a lot of deep self-reflection and introspection. These questions really compel you to look beyond superficial motivations and really connect with your genuine passions, interests, and purpose.”
Incredibly grateful and honored to have been featured by Tatler Asia and Star Media Group Berhad in recognition of my acceptances into four Ivy League institutions. For me, this milestone is not just a personal achievement, but truly a testament to the invaluable support, guidance, and inspiration I've received from all my family, mentors, and peers throughout my journey. I am excited for what lies ahead, and will do my very best to seize the opportunities and challenges that await me. https://lnkd.in/gyk3S5eX https://lnkd.in/gz7JqWr7

I Help Organizations Build Deep, Authentic Human Connections Through the Harmony-Inspired Principles of Ballroom Dance | Meet, Move, Magic Framework Creator | Ballroom Dance Champion | Foster Connections and Teamwork
Overcoming Challenges with the Kampung Spirit ** Overcoming Challenges Through Teamwork and Support ** After nearly six and a half years of dancing, my dance partner had to leave Singapore due to work commitments. This left me feeling lost and without direction. However, life has a way of surprising us. Just two months later, I met a new dance partner, and together, we achieved great success. This experience reminds me of Mr. S. Rajaratnam, one of Singapore’s founding fathers, who faced numerous challenges in building a cohesive society. His belief in the kampung spirit and the power of teamwork helped overcome these obstacles, fostering unity and progress. In the corporate world, challenges are inevitable. By embracing the kampung spirit and supporting each other, we can overcome difficulties and achieve our goals. Share your stories of overcoming challenges through teamwork and support.

I help organizations BUILD better leaders, REDUCE burnout and attrition, and CREATE more engaged, aligned workforce | HRDCorp Accredited Trainer | Mindset Coach
This past month, many of us observed #Ramadan, a time of deep #reflection and #selfimprovement. Soon, the joyous celebrations of #EidAlFitr will fill the air, followed by the quiet remembrance of #QingMing. Traditions, both vibrant and solemn, passed down not through textbooks but through generations gathered together. I wonder, what do you remember most about these experiences? Is it the meticulous preparation of meals, the laughter shared with loved ones, or the quiet reverence during prayers? Logic tells us these are simply rituals. But deep down, we know it's more. It's the emotions – the #anticipation, the #love, the #respect – that weave these traditions into the very fabric of our being. These emotional #connections are the stories we carry with us, stories that defy formal education and ensure traditions live on. Isn't this the same essence we strive for in our workplaces? Can we cultivate a sense of #purpose that transcends just tasks and deadlines? Can we create a space where traditions of respect, #collaboration, and #innovation are passed down not through manuals but through shared #experiences? Perhaps, the answer lies in embracing the power of #storytelling. Let's celebrate the unique journeys of our colleagues, the #emotions that drive them, and the legacies they want to build. Because in the end, it's not just about what we do, but how it makes us feel. And those feelings, those connections, are what truly bind us together.

The ability to step away from a situation or place, allowing for a deeper and clearer analysis, is like observing a landscape from the top of a mountain: from afar, the view is broader, while up close, perception is limited. Similarly, experiencing different cultures, realities, and ways of thinking broadens the understanding not only of others but of ourselves. It’s a constant exercise in self-knowledge, where each new place visited offers a different mirror to reflect on our own history, beliefs, and values. Traveling allows not only the necessary distance to better see one’s own journey but also a form of expansion, carrying pieces of the world within and, at the same time, spreading our own seeds wherever we go. This constant exchange between "being from a place" and "being in another" makes us realize that borders aren’t as rigid as they seem—the true journey is the inner one. It’s a process of transformation in which, with each new culture and reality encountered, something within us also changes and grows, without ever losing what we essentially are. Terima kasih, Malaysia! (Thank you, 🇲🇾)

During an "ad-hoc" session with a cluster of Koreans businessmen and academia recently, i was pleasantly surprised, and honoured to be invited to be a Member of the Korean Association Johor. I believed "intercultural sustainability" is achieved through deeper insights of other cultures, and this would be crucial towards fostering global understanding, cooperation, and peace. This can be achieved via activities such as - 1. Cultural immersion and exchange programs; 2. Cross-cultural education; 3. Interfaith dialogue and cooperation; 4. Participation in Cultural festivals and events; 5. Storytelling and media representation; 5. Language learning; 6. Cultural competence training; 7. Research and collaboration; 8. Community engagement; and 9. Inclusive policies and practices. Adoption of such strategies will foster a deeper understanding of other cultures, leading to greater empathy, cooperation, and sustainability.

Leading Capability Development at PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad specializing in Technical Fuel & Aviation Terminal Operations and Maintenance Management
I had the chance to attend PETRONAS MIPAC (Making Impossible Possible Award & Convention) 2024 today at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), and it was an inspiring experience. The event was all about celebrating the innovative ideas of PETRONAS staff - ideas that have turned into real, practical solutions to make work and life simpler and better. You could really feel the excitement and drive for improvement in the air. One moment that stuck with me was the keynote speech by the PETRONAS COO, Adnan Zainal Abidin. He shared his personal career story and how he’s handled moving between different roles. His words hit hard, especially when he said: “Planning your career is *untrue*. Opportunity doesn’t come when you want it. When it comes, grab it, take on the challenge, and figure it out as you go. That’s how you grow.” That really made me think. We often get caught up in trying to plan our careers, but his message was a reminder that things don’t always go according to plan. Opportunities show up when we least expect them, and it’s up to us to be ready, adapt, and learn through the process. The truth is, growth doesn’t happen because we stick to a plan - it happens because we’re flexible enough to take risks and learn from the transitions we face. What struck me too was that the COO clearly knew who he was talking to - this audience of innovators at PETRONAS, people who are always challenging the status quo and pushing boundaries. His message really hit home for this group. All in all, the event was a great reminder that whether we’re talking about innovation or careers, success comes from being ready to embrace change and push ourselves beyond the comfort zone. It was a day full of insights! 🛫🫡
