Besides ignorance regarding Obstructive sleep apnea, there is a lack of understanding of use of PAP devices among patients and even doctors. PAP Devices can help splint open airways for OSA, clear pulmonary edema for CHF, and even help tackle autopeep, besides providing a ventilatory support. Appropriate use of PAP devices for Appropriate indications at the appropriate pressure settings can help improve patients outcomes a small case report in similar light
Cardiovascular diseases and OSA have a bidirectional relationship and often coexist. CPAP is a effective treatment option for OSA, and is also used to treat heart failure. Thus, the use of CPAP in OSA can mask symptoms of heart failure and detailed history of CPAP compliance is essential to ensure that we don't miss out heart failure. We had this patient of OSA, who was using CPAP for >12 hours/day, even in awake state, was ultimately diagnosed to have heart failure and was unkowingly using CPAP as a theraputic option. 💥 Excessive Alcohol Intake May Trigger Heart Arrhythmia 💥 Party season is fun, but did you know that drinking too much alcohol can do more than give you a hangover? It can mess with your heart's rhythm, leading to cardiac arrhythmias – even in healthy young adults! 🍻💔 A study published in the European Heart Journal shows that binge drinking can have significant effects on your heart, with many partygoers experiencing irregular heartbeats during the recovery period after a night of drinking. The research from the MunichBREW Studies found that alcohol not only raises your heart rate but also disrupts your heart’s natural rhythms, putting your cardiovascular health at risk. So, remember your heart next time you reach for that extra drink – it might thank you later. Stay mindful of your alcohol intake for long-term heart health! ❤️ #FunctionalMedicine #HeartHealth #AlcoholAwareness #CardiacArrhythmia #HealthyLiving #BingeDrinking #HeartRhythms #PreventionMatters #WellnessJourney #HeartCare #LifestyleChoices #HealthyHeart https://lnkd.in/dwshUMam

Angina is essentially chest pain or discomfort stemming from inadequate blood flow to the heart muscle. The discomfort isn’t always confined to the chest; it can also manifest as pressure in the chest, jaw pain, or arm discomfort. Angina predominantly occurs when the coronary arteries, responsible for supplying blood to the heart, become narrow due to atherosclerosis (plaque buildup in the arteries) or a spasm of the coronary arteries. https://lnkd.in/eThY_s73

The concept of "doctor shopping" in obesity care is real. And the reasons behind it are explained nicely by Yoni Freedhoff in his latest Medscape piece. Bias180 #obesitycare #bias #stigma #personcenteredcare
Yoni Freedhoff on how some pockets of medicine are only now waking up to the concept of treating people living with #obesity as – are you sitting down? – people living with a chronic disease who therefore deserve evidence-based care. Proof that, although there may be signs that the dawn of a new day is close, the big sleep is far from over. https://lnkd.in/grdD6pwp

As the largest respiratory muscle, the diaphragm has a very important function essential in having good lung volume to take deep breaths and have an effective cough. When the diaphragm isn’t working properly, this can lead to diaphragmatic dysfunction and impaired airway clearance, making it harder to breathe with weakened muscle strength. Learn more about Disorders of the Diaphragm and check out a SmartVest Case Study showing symptom improvement after 2 weeks of use. https://lnkd.in/gnSPYDiB

DIabetes Advocate, Systems Developer using SQL and VBA to save time, increase accuracy & improve user experience.
LinkedIn is limiting how much I can post, so second part will be in a comment. Diabetes and eye health – my mask experience For a long time, I suffered Diabetic burnout and didn’t look after myself and developed Proliferative Retinopathy (PR). At the end of 2019, with the assistance of the FreeStyle Libre and Libre 2 Systems, I was able to manage my Diabetes well and have continued to do so ever since. However, the PR continued with me getting more weak blood vessels that caused bleeds in my eyes. My most recent surgery was in Feb 2024, long after I had hoped that complications would stop. An unexpected discovery I attended the Diabetes UK Professional Conference 2024 as a Dedoc Voice and, while queuing for coffee, I was chatting with a lady and mentioned my PR. The lady said “You need to come to our stand!” Thus, I was introduced to the Noctura 400 mask. Diabetes can cause issues with the blood vessels in the eye, the PR is then caused by a lack of oxygen (known as hypoxia) to the eye which responds by developing extra blood vessels to supply more oxygen. The problem is that these blood vessels are weak and they burst or break and cause bleeding. The logic behind the mask is elegantly simple. Demand for oxygen exceeds supply, and we can’t yet improve the existing blood vessels to increase supply, so we need to reduce demand instead. #noctura #polyphotonix #Retinopathy #diabetes #dukpc2024 #dedoc #Abbottuk Continued in comments
