Ticket Sales Tip of the Week #67 (It's time to make being a Season Ticket holder (STH) great again) The feature of buying ST's to ensure you wouldn't miss the game and had commemorative ticket stock are no longer. Verified seats on the secondary and digital tickets erased both features. The other new reality. The ease to list tickets on secondary market has allowed everyone to be a seller which often causes ticket supply to exceed demand. Left unchecked, this can cause game day prices to fall below the STH rate which negatively impacts the STH's ability to attract partners and clubs to retain full season ticket commitments. Solution: Team committed to ensure the STH's experience overshadows the secondary market price per game which they can't control. Surprise and Delight STH's (including their STH partners), ticket exchange, STH events (player and not player), early entry, random upgrades and invites, playoff reward ticket rates, lounge/parking access, concession & retail $. Reality, too many examples (in and outside of sports) to name my typical Major and Minor Leagues Stars of the week. Should you wish to learn more: chriskelly@withinscope.ca or 416-770-0917

Benny's getting #basketball tips this summer from Ryan Turell, Orthodox Jewish pro player. Biggest lesson: Be consistent every day. Consistent in shooting form. Consistent in shot practice. Consistent in diet. Of course, what does that remind me of? Email & SMS automation. Consistent, 24/7, messaging that's segmented & personalized. They outperform any email when sent correctly. Grow your ecom revenues comes down to those consistent automations. And then multiplying them in numerous ways. That's the second part of my 10-figure strategy. Automation and multiplication. Ticket Sales Tip of the Week- #66 (How do teams retain members?) The guidelines aren't complicated. What is, is that verified tickets and more sellers makes it difficult to control price and has eliminated FOMO.. 1) Price the full season below the per game market value. 2) Reward priceless experiences and offers exclusive to members. 3) Be as flexible as the verified secondary market. The perception or reality of 1), should ensure perfect retention. On the flip, failure to secure 1) without a strong combination of 2) & 3) converts members into game day buyers. Major League Star- Vincent Lucier SVP Ticket Sales Montreal Canadiens The Canadiens were the only NBA or NHL team (according to our secondary market source) where the November entry price for every game increased for buyers Oct 31st as opposed to the Sept 30th buyers. Across the two leagues, 80% of tickets became cheaper 30 days later. Minor League Star- Anthony Sprague GM of the Buffalo Bisons With a 65% ticket savings, unlimited Ticket exchange, early entry to every give away event, concession $'s, buffet discounts and free email food coupons, membership value is never questioned with the Bisons. Ticket Sales Buyer and Seller Tip- Week #49 (Clarifying: Sports Club memberships and Sports Ticket membership) Whether you're a member at your "YMCA" or Augusta National, the membership grants your access to use the facilities in the same manner that being a Season Ticket holder for a sports team (new term is member) grants you access to every game. Additional perks to the both membership types could include: Exclusive dining, Parking, private lockers (Reading Phillies) and member only events. Difference: In the sports club, use is exclusive to members who unlike sports ticket membership can't transfer daily access. This gives many private clubs exclusive status value and makes it murky for members trying to evaluate their yearly investment which can cause unexpected club resignations. Ticket Sales memberships being transferrable for every event is less exclusive as non members can act like members for the day. That said, when the full season rates is below the perceived secondary markets per game cost, it's clear (not murky) and gives teams confidence members will renew. Ticket Sales Tip- Week #53 and the Stars behind them. (Make being a Season Ticket holder great again) In 2024 teams need to overcome are that FOMO no longer exists, the best price is a variable teams don't control and the secondary market is legit. Clue the model is broken. The biggest Jays fan I know told me last week "I'll never buy seasons again" thanks to Game Time. Solution- Add value the secondary market can't. If your secondary price is often below the membership rate, early entry on promotional dates, year round activities, flexible fair value ticket exchange, buying back games and discounted concessions should be starting points to help retain members. Remember: People know they can secure great locations "often at a discount" on game day. Major League Star- Don Rovak SVP AMB Sports Atlanta Falcons The Falcons buy back games members don't want and send Falcon members away game tickets to their Falcons away game of choice. Minor League Star- Randy Wehofer VP/AGM Iowa Cubs Member get Free parking and belong to a Mug Club that includes a drink deal every game which includes your 1st Beer on Thursdays.
