May 20th is celebrated as International HR's Day ! HR's jobs aren't easy as it may seem. HR not only helps an organisation to build the culture, but to grow it as well. HR's job is not only to align the interviews but to share the feedback to the candidates, irrespective of the outcome. HR's job is not only to hire/recruit new talents but also to help in sustaining the right ones too. HR's job is not only to satisfy the team's demand but also to take care of the whole, for an organisation. HR's job is like a mother. Some get real mothers and some get step mothers instead 😅. Some HR's do their duty for betterment of both, organisation and the candidates while some fail at communicating. But that's ok. Remember, HR's are also humans. They also learn, some learn the easy way, some learn from their teams and some get moulded in the wrong culture. It happens to all of us. For All The HRs - It's always better to keep a good relation with the candidates. You never know what happens next in the chapter of life. The candidate you ghosted, will be the decision maker in the organisation where you're desperately looking to switch. A single email to a candidate stating the reason for delay, rejection or anything else can be communicated smoothly and humanely possible too. Happy International Human Resource Day to all HR's in my connections and timeline. Aaj Ek Rangoli To Banta Hai 😋. #InternationalHRDay #HR #HumanResource

If being into HR you were told this atleast once, 'Kya toh kaam hain tumhara', then this post is for you. 👇 So recently, my Linkedin Feed has been filled with content about HR's and how their job duties are nothing tough, and how a part of their job is nothing but Rangoli making and chilling at work wearing great outfits. Kindly respect HR's as they're managing so many different things, whilst they have 20+ new faces trying to get in touch each day, 100+ unread linkedin messages each week, ensuring the collaboration with stakeholders is smooth, giving candidates feedback, being all ears to candidates who got rejected, and still being polite after someone telling them, 'What's so hectic about being an HR? Try our field and you'll know' So next time you feel HR's do nothing, try to remember how badly you wanted the opportunity you have today, all because they decided to give you a chance. #respect #humanresources #hrcommunity

What does a great HR candidate look like? It’s a question I have been asked a lot over the years. I can honestly say the thing I enjoy most about working with HR professionals is their determination, drive, and professionalism no matter what level they are in their career. Yet, there is a gap! Many businesses prioritise extensive experience over fresh qualifications, overlooking eager and capable candidates. Take the example of one remarkable candidate I am currently working with. She has got an impressive array of qualifications and a burning desire to contribute to a forward-thinking business. Despite her potential, she is finding it tough to land that first opportunity. Employers need to shift their mindset and recognise the value of passion, drive, and fresh perspectives. You might be missing professionals with innovative ideas, new energy, and a strong desire to prove themselves! Think Future Talent! 🚀 #futuretalent #earlycareers https://bit.ly/3S1R79X

🌟 A New Perspective on HR: More Than Just Recruitment 🌟 Reflecting on my time studying industrial & organizational psychology, I remember how my student committee was always focused on recruitment—interviews, sourcing candidates, and the like. It felt like HR was all about hiring. However, my experience working in the field has opened my eyes to the broader world of Human Resources. Recruitment is just the beginning! In the organizational world, HR is about (in a brief): - Building Structures: Crafting organizational frameworks that align with company goals. - Creating Roles: Designing job descriptions that match roles with the company's needs. - Recruiting Thoughtfully: Finding and attracting candidates who fit both the job and the culture. - Developing Talent: Nurturing and growing employees throughout their journey. - Ensuring Compliance: Managing work rights and adhering to labor laws. - Managing Transitions: Handling exits and retirements with care. This broader view has not only changed my approach to HR but also deepened my understanding of why we do what we do. It’s not just about fulfilling tasks; it’s about creating meaningful journeys for employees and understanding the critical role psychology plays in organizational dynamics. For anyone studying or passionate about HR, I encourage you to explore the full scope of the field. Knowing the “why” behind our work can make all the difference and inspire us to give our best. A big thank you to my coach Juvika Juvika and mentor Yosafat Hutagalung for helping me see the true impact of HR. Your guidance has shown me just how important and fulfilling this work can be. #HumanResources #HRJourney #CareerGrowth #Psychology #OrganizationalDevelopment #HRInsights

What do HRs even do?! They are so SLOW!! 💁♀️ This is what candidates think about HRs but the reality is so different!!! • HR takes time to process candidates to ensure the right fit for both the company and the role. The process involves thoroughly reviewing applications, conducting multiple interview rounds, and assessing skills, experience, and cultural alignment. • Coordinating with various stakeholders for feedback and approvals can also add to the time. • HR needs to balance multiple openings while ensuring compliance with internal procedures, making the process more time-consuming but essential for quality hiring. HR are human as well, repost if you agree! What do you think about HRs?! Do let me know😌 #recruitmentprocess #hrmanagement #qualityhiring #candidateexperience #workculture #productivity #worklifebalance #jobsearchtips #hrinsights #talentacquisition #remotework #careerdevelopment #linkedin #corporatelife

Happy International HR Day! Honestly, we all believe that it’s probably the easiest job in the world and what do HRs even do? I know, I read your mind. But the reason I am putting this out is to share a recent experience. 2 days ago, I got a call from a recruitment agency. Remember the calls that are: 1. Shorter that 2 minutes, often mistaking your name for the previous or next candidate on the list. 2. About your basic qualification, total years of experience and current CTC. 3. Attempting to understand your work ex while desperately trying to match key words with the JD at hand! Most often than not, they don’t have the bandwidth to process any exceptional cases such as career breaks or shifts. But the call I received was different. To begin with, she gave me a good 20 minutes of her time. The time that she could have used to call 4 candidates. It was the longest call with a recruiter I’ve ever had. She took the time to understand my background, the type of work experience I had apart from the profile she was looking for. And, a genuine interest in what I was looking for! Now that was a googly. How often are candidates asked what they want instead of being asked if they had what companies want? I was really taken aback by this call! And irrespective of the opportunity materializing or not, I would love to wish her a happy International HR Day. (I know HRs in my connections will say, recruiters and HR are not the same, but trust me, it’s the same for us non-HRs!) The point is, In every workspace, there is a mixed bag of hardworking and not so hardworking people. Just because we don’t see them, doesn’t mean they don’t exist and shouldn't be applauded. Here’s wishing a happy International HR day to all the hardworking HRs! #internationalhrday #recruitment #humanresources

I was catching up with an acquaintance the other day, and things were going great... until HR came up. Let's just say her enthusiasm dimmed a bit when she found out what I do for a living. "Ugh, I hate HR!" she declared. Let's be honest, HR doesn't always get the best rap. But here's the thing: chances are, an HR professional has played a positive role in your career journey at some point. Think about it: - Did an HR give you helpful interview tips or guidance on how to improve your resume? - Did they advocate for a raise or promotion you deserved? - Maybe you even navigated a tricky workplace situation, like a conflict with a colleague, with HR's support. - Did HR help you with onboarding when you started a new job, making the process smoother? - Perhaps they offered helpful resources or training opportunities that aided your professional development. HR isn't just about policies and handbooks. We're here to empower employees, foster a positive work environment, and help you reach your full potential. So, this International HR Day, let's raise a glass to the HR folks who might not always get the praise but are dedicated to making your work life a little bit better. Why HR? In a few interviews and conversations I’m asked “why HR?” Moving from Social work to HR wasn’t a very difficult decision. I have always loved the idea of order. I thrive within order. One of the competencies of an HR personnel is the ability to bring order to the workplace. A social worker is also expected to bring order to situations. An HR is expected to possess emotional intelligence because you’ll be dealing with different people from different backgrounds and you’re expected to be able to handle issues with empathy and firmness. So also a social worker, emotional intelligence and empathy is one of the core ethics of the social worker profession. Another similar skill an HR personnel and a social worker ought to have is confidentiality. In both professions, these are important skills. While practicing as a Social Worker, I developed these skills over time and when I decided to transition into HR I knew that these skills would be valuable in my new field. Now anytime I’m asked “why leave Social Work to HR?” I answer I believe it’s an opportunity for me to learn new skills that I might not have learnt in the Social Work profession. I believe I’m performing a similar role in a different expression. No experience is a waste, it’ll always find expression. #HRnewbie #careertransition #socialwork #HRpersonnel

Associate Director - Accounting & Finance and Business Support | Recruiting Australia's best talent within public practice accounting firms
An interesting article out of Australian HR Institute (AHRI) yesterday highlighting an issue a lot of businesses and recruiters can resonate with... candidate backouts! Out of 3500 job seekers surveyed, over 50% of candidates had reported that they had backed out of an accepted offer over the previous 12 months - that is a staggering statistic! As noted in the attached article, the primary driver for candidates backing out of job offers was work/life balance over remuneration. In contrast to an 11% increase in office mandated days in 2022 & 2023, candidates are still opting to proceed with businesses offering work from home flexibility. From personal experience in the market, some tips below help mitigate the risk of candidates pulling out of process after signing employment agreements: - Meet with candidates face to face. This helps to build strong rapport and offset the disconnect that can be present in virtual interviews. - Maintain weekly communication during the notice period (coffee, onboarding, meet the team etc). The recruitment process does not end when the contract is signed, it is completed when they commence their employment on day one! - Streamline the recruitment and onboarding process. Time kills all deals! I would be keen to hear what other processes TA and HR professionals have implemented to tackle this issue. Follow the link in the comments for more insights on employee retention and candidate attraction. #CandidateAttraction #EmployeeRetention #TalentAcquisition #HR #WeAreMorgan #PositivePeopleChange
