To stay on top of the game and see how the software engineer market is doing I have an unconventional search on LinkedIn for those hiring Principal Software Engineers. The search doesn't go through the "Jobs" search page because I don't believe that is an accurate measure of the current market right now. It's a heuristic I used to understand the hiring market and how much it costs to hire the very best engineers. A few months ago, LinkedIn hit and all time low: only ONE company was actively hiring according to my unconventional search. Now there are SEVEN. That's a 7x increase in a few months. Something has changed out there.

WHO THE FRIGGIN’ FRIG IS HIRING RN!? We love that title from Ross Pomerantz (aka Corporate Bro) and Adam Schoenfeld (Founder at Keyplay). They put together this great resource of companies in tech that are hiring along with key details about their growth, funding, and other signals. Many of these companies offer remote work, but some will be hybrid too. Hiring advice. Focus less on the perfect background. And more on the perfect person. Yes, I understand there are exceptions. Hiring me to be a Software Engineer makes no sense :) But in many instances, the right person can be trained.
