I love a good #roadtrip and enjoy seeing other quirky sites roll across my social media feeds from other roadtrippers. In this piece, I gathered some of the most interesting #gravesites you might check out if you hit the road. https://lnkd.in/gTwGRn23 #deathanddying #graves #roadtrips #writingaboutdeathanddying

👑 A celebration or a missed opportunity for reflection? Three Kings Day (Epiphany or *El Día de Reyes*) is more than just a holiday. In Puerto Rico, it’s a cultural pillar. It’s a time for family, tradition, and celebration. As we gather to honor the Magi’s journey, it’s worth asking: Are we truly embracing the deeper meaning of this day? 🔴 Like many holidays, Three Kings Day has become increasingly commercialized. More focus on materialism and less on the cultural and spiritual significance of the holiday. 🔴 While we celebrate, how often do we think about the waste generated by these festivities? Wrapping paper, single-use party supplies, and discarded gifts often end up in landfills, exacerbating Puerto Rico’s existing waste crisis. 🔴 Three Kings Day symbolizes generosity, faith, and community. Yet, how often do we use this day to reflect on the challenges facing our communities, from social inequality to environmental degradation? What do you think? 🤔👇 #ThreeKingsDay #PuertoRico #Tradition #Sustainability #Ambiphy

This July 4th, our nation celebrates 248 years of independence, but our country's story begins long before 1776. For members of Grand Canyon National Park 11 tribal communities —the original protectors of Grand Canyon—the meaning of this holiday is more complex. For many Indigenous people, Independence Day is a stark reminder of the lands lost to the expansion of the United States into territories held by native people since time immemorial. One such example here at Grand Canyon was the forceable removal of the Havasupai people from their ancestral homelands in the inner canyon at Ha’a Gyoh (Havasupai Gardens). Today, park managers and Grand Canyon Conservancy are working with the Havasupai Tribe to create a place to welcome tribal members to Havasupai Gardens and to interpret that space honestly and respectfully. There are many ways to celebrate this uniquely American holiday such as acknowledging the history of our national parks and embracing the progress of sharing all aspects of the country's heritage in places like the Grand Canyon. Independence Day is an excellent opportunity to spend time with family and friends, enjoy food, and have a memorable time together. This year, the gateway community of Tusayan is offering some amazing 4th of July events, including a parade, Native American dancers, music from local bands, food vendors, a silent auction, kids’ games, and a drone show after dark. Learn more: https://bit.ly/45SLCjD We are also entering another extreme heat warning this holiday weekend. Temperatures at Phantom Ranch are expected to exceed 110 degrees F (43 degrees Celsius). Please drink water and electrolytes, avoid hiking between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., take breaks often, and eat plentiful amounts of food. Hiking in the canyon is not recommended. 📸 NPS #July4th #IndependenceDay #GrandCanyon

This new wave that anyone who is in Bangalore must speak in Kannada is absolutely stupid. While one must try to learn local language and respect local culture - you simply cant mistreat anyone- if he/ she does not know Kannada in Bangalore - this new trend has become a normal norm and surprisingly they defend it. Deplorable to see comments like - if you don't like Bangalore leave it. This is my country and I decide where I wish to live. Bangalore cab drivers are at a different level of arrogance. if you ask to swich on AC- they will start abusing you. if you request not to continuously talk while driving - they will start using abusive language.. Not coming to pick up, asking where is the drop , cash or UPI and what not... This is not what an inclusive culture does...
Can you guess the city name? 🎃

Happy #GivingTuesday. There's nothing like kicking off a first season of EOY giving at the fundraising helm of an org and saying "you're right y'all, let's sit this one out". We talk a lot about when it's "our time" and when it's time let others have the day and focus on the long strategy. As a fundraiser who cares deeply about community-centric values and approach, sometimes it's simply not necessary for us to be the loudest in the room. Plus, as a donor, the pace of #GT fundraising is frantic: I know it’s happening, I’ll make my gifts too, but it’s hard to sift through even a quarter of the e-appeal’s I receive today. So today we're quiet. I spent the morning on a frosty walk at the Lake, reflecting on why I love this place and choose to spend my professional time protecting it. I thought of memories as a kid out on the water, skiing with family and friends at just about every resort around the Lake, New Years midnight polar plunges off docks in Incline ... the memories that make this place special now, and for generations. If you love Tahoe or a special wild place, I encourage you to slow down and do the same. As someone who believes in the vital role private support plays in maintaining the wellness, vibrancy, and social infrastructure of the United States, I offer this if you want to give today: think small. Often, tactics like #GT work best for whoever can bang the biggest drum. But your $100? It will mean the most to the youth services org with a budget under $1MM, to the community group trying to rally a solution for a neighborhood environmental problem, or to the arts org trying to self-produce a grassroots project. Because every-day-donors do matter, and today, these orgs need you most. Giving Tuesday is a wonderful tactic for the right moment, right time, (and generosity begets more generosity), but it doesn’t replace the need for robust support year-round. As public funding looks to dwindle for many orgs, this is more important than ever. Don't worry - we'll keep our big year-end push going to Keep Tahoe Blue. But today, we rest and let others shine.
Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, and we're doing something different this year. We're not asking for anything. Instead, we invite you to get outside and reconnect with the places that make your heart full — whether it's the tranquility of Lake Tahoe, a hidden trail you've discovered, or even your favorite local park. 🌲✨ Take a breath. Take it all in. And if you're feeling inspired, share a moment that matters to you — a photo, a video, or just a thought about why these places are worth protecting. Please share it here: https://lnkd.in/gqBzcQsT 🌿📸 No pressure, no ask — just a reminder of why we fight so hard to Keep Tahoe Blue. Let's take today to enjoy, reflect, and remember why we love our incredible natural spaces. 💙 #GivingTuesday #KeepTahoeBlue #LoveNature #Gratitude #WildPlaces
