I help businesses gain a better ROI from their teams by filling their skills gaps through apprenticeships to either up-skill existing team members or introducing and training new talent. Opinions given my own
With just a few weeks to go until our latest Hack event in Sheffield our 2nd Challenge has been announced! United Utilities have set the following challenge around procurement pipelines. If you'd like to come along on 11-12th June the details are: We start day 1 by explaining what the problems are that we are trying to solve. Attendees choose which problem they would like to work on. Teams then form. We try and ensure a blend of data and project professionals. They get stuck in and try and solve the challenge using whatever tools and capabilities they can. Preconfigured commercial tools aren't allowed. Each team records a video of their solution and their pitch to the judges. The judges review the videos, score them and we add up the scores. The winning teams get a share of £5k in Amazon vouchers. Winners are announced ~2 weeks after the hack. #hackathon #DataAnalytics #BigData #DataScience #BusinessIntelligence #DataDrivenDecisions #AnalyticsStrategy #PredictiveAnalytics #DataMining #MachineLearning #DataVisualization #AIAnalytics #DataInsights #DataStrategy #DataDrivenCulture #AdvancedAnalytics #projectmanagement #PMO

“So, you did an MBA to do coloring on slides?” I was asked this question by a Subject Matter Expert with about 15 years of IT delivery experience. I’ve worked with technical teams across tech stacks and functions - front end, cloud, data engineering, analytics, data scientists, architects etc. and have huge appreciation and respect for minds that co-create beautiful products and solutions through their niche. I mean, I went ‘whoaaaaaaaa’ when that C++ program generated the Fibonacci sequence for me fifteen years ago - to be able to do a bazillion-ed version of that? *Starry Eyes* So, I can empathize. But that does not mean I need to rationalize. Here’s how I would try to explain this (just waiting on that time-machine): My education and experiences help me understand what you are saying ⏩assimilate it with what others on our team are saying ⏩ communicate it in a way that those who need to understand it are able to appreciate it ⏩ play my role in generating more business for all of us ⏩ WIN TOGETHER 🥳 If you come across any thought that questions your worth, and it could be your own mind as well (remember Professor Lupin’s lesson on boggarts?), please, please remember this message from my tea - Our worthiness does not need external validation. We are worthy, as we are.👌

Age old question - should companies be led by engineers or business people. Tech companies going through meteoric industry shifts need to be led by technologists - Oracle would be toast if it wasn’t led by Larry Ellison. But is that true of traditional manufacturing industries? Fascinating article from CNBC. What’s clear is that companies with challenges in product and manufacturing should NOT be led by bean counters https://lnkd.in/gix-5WdE
